Home Office gets taste of its own medicine, in a van

The Home Office is getting a taste of its own medicine today with a van that calls on it to ‘Think Again’.

The billboard van was funded by the human-rights organisation Liberty.

Liberty say it is driving around Westminster and the Asian-heavy London boroughs that were visited by the earlier van.

The trial by the Home Office has now finished but it may come back and be extended across the UK.

The Home Office van was condemned by Lib Dem ministers.

Sad people do not take the same action for what has been inflicted upon the sick, disabled, vulnerable and poorest in British society by this Tory Led Coalition of EVIL !

The sick, disabled, vulnerable, poorest and unemployed in society do not have a voice and have not committed anything illegal, caused harm, but are left to suffer in silence.

The home office bill board van was saying ” In The UK Illegally ? ” , ” Go Home or Face Arrest “. It was a warning to those that are illegally, targeting those that have broken the law and MAY have to commit further crimes to support themselves.

The sick, disabled, vulnerable and unemployed in society have been discriminated against, been given discriminatory labels such as scroungers, skivers and a long list of other discriminatory names. They have been targeted, lied about, discriminated, persecuted, vilified, financially slaughtered and in many cases about to lose their homes. Why is this group of people in society can be abused by this Tory Led Coalition of EVIL and get no support ?

The sick, disable, vulnerable, poorest and unemployed that have committed no crime are being abused right before our own eyes and people turn a blind eye.

Why do people fight for justice for one group but allow worse abuse to another group such as the weakest in society that do not have a voice ?

2. Psychological Mind Games.

Most people in society ignored the conservatives outright attack on the most vulnerable in society which has led this government to believe that they are invincible/untouchable. Now they know, that wider society is not standing up for the most vulnerable in society and happy to watch them severely suffer the Tories have now moved onto their next victims that are vulnerable and do not have a voice.

Because people and other groups were not standing up for the most vulnerable in society the Tories have become arrogant and powerful in their own minds. A bit like an aggressive dog that bites people and nothing is done, it will go on to bite more people unless it is put down.

The conservatives strength and arrogance comes from the fact that they thought people will again ignore the plight of another vulnerable group in society because they have got away with it before.

Now it is time to turn the clock back and revisit the plight of the most vulnerable in society (sick & disabled) and put the Tories back in place. Don’t give them an inch and fight for justice for all. Bring back compassion for all to this country.

If the original poster did damage to race relations does a poster of the opposite view heal the wounds I wonder.

Strange episode.

Vast swathes of the Left have basically come out as pro-illegal immigration.

One always suspected of course. But to see this many people argue that enforcing immigration law is ‘racist’ is very strange.

It’s only strange if you’ve been living in a bubble for the last half century–in which case, I’m afraid you’ve gone through the looking glass and would probably benefit from a stiff drink. If you’ve spent it in the UK (or any Western country), it’s perfectly normal.

A great many people, including our political, intellectual and media classes, are basically of the opinion that restricting the right of migrants to settle in whatever country they like amounts to a form of apartheid. That being so, they object to the government asserting its intention to deport illegal immigrants, never mind actually deporting them.

What’s more interesting is the way in which people switch between inconsistent rationales for open borders: consequentialist one moment, when explaining the possible positive side-effects; deontological the next, when explaining that none of the potential negative side-effects ought to be considered.

While the ”racist van” deserved to be criticised, I wouldn’t take the slightest notice of a Shami Chakrabarti run Liberty. She’s obviously just making a very comfortable career out of taking quite extreme and fundamentalist lines on some issues that are not that popular with the wider public. It’s her career and what pays her mortgage.
And good for her if she can carry it off.

The van could be criticised as I say, but the criticism of it I’ve seen has been pretty second rate.
Yes it was showboating and looking to potential voters by the Tories, but like anything to do with racism (or the EDL or whatever today) the left know only shrill crys of ”racism” as a response to such things.

But Sunny thinks it’s pure discrimination to treat Nigeria and Bangladesh differently to Australia and Canada. We don’t ask their citizens for a £3000 bond.
How racist.

And Yeman. Do we discriminate against them too? A country where a white European can hardly walk down the street in safety (it would seem at the moment).
I was in Alexandria Egypt for a week in December, and a poor 21 year old Amerian student was stabbed to death there a month ago becuase he walked into one of these political protests and someone just took a dislike to his presence. People are different.
In Egypt, a majority of women have undergone FGM. That means that Egyptians have a different psyche to Europeans.
There must surely be a certain number of people from countries like that, that a place can take, before it becomes more like the place that those people came from. I can never think well of someone who thinks that FGM is OK.

If Liberty are so keen on protecting human rights then they should stand up for the first victims of this nasty government the sick and disabled. Also what about the human rights of those that are going to starve or be thrown out on the streets because they cannot be rehoused into smaller properties.

To get this into context the home office bill board van was not racist it was a mobile warning and information on where to contact for help to get home if wanted.

Lastly it is not racist to speak your mind and view your concerns on immigration.

@4
Rank dishonesty.

Damon your comments always crack me up. You’ve turned into a walking Daily Mail comment generator. Is the fact that you’ve had trouble walking down the street in Yemen a good reason to discriminate against Africans?

“Stirring up tension and division in the UK illegally?”

What’s illegal about the home office’s van/campaign?

The Racist Van is touring areas with large South Asian populations while offering translation facilities in South Asian languages only. Yet the biggest overstayers are Australians, New Zealanders, and white South Africans.

Immigration by those last, Afrikaners as well as English-speakers, is a huge unreported story, not necessarily as a bad thing, but simply as a fact; London even has a congregation of the Afrikaanse Protestantse Kerk, which seceded from the Dutch Reformed Church due to “compromise” over theological support for apartheid, and having that congregation in London is a very bad thing indeed.

“Reverse colonisation” by the likes of Mark Carney, Lynton Crosby and the largely South African England cricket team is supposed to be mildly amusing, and more than mildly reassuring.

But the methods of Crosby, in particular, are confronting us with the stark reality that each of the members of the old “white Commonwealth” is a very different country from Britain, and has been for an immensely long time, certainly since well before the War.

Canada, Australia and New Zealand each retains the monarchy for the same reason that each of several West Indian and Pacific Island nations does so: because it suits her, not because it suits Britain. How does it affect Britain? It does not.

Independent countries with the Union Flag on their own retain it for their own reasons, not for ours, since we have none for their doing so; after all, even the Boers’ revenge republic managed that, although the purported reconstitution of Rhodesia as a republic did not.

Although there was never free trade even within the British Empire or Commonwealth, it is true that Australia (which has a long and living tradition of protectionism) did experience certain hardships after Britain acceded to the European Communities, as did New Zealand.

But that was in the faraway 1970s, and it is fanciful to suppose, as some people do, that they have been waiting for us ever since, like old maids still waiting for their sweethearts to come home from the First World War. Australia, like Canada, is in the G20, and Canada is in the G8. They stopped needing us a long, long time ago.

The Crosby-isation of the Conservative Party manifests just how foreign each of the Old Dominions is. If you do not believe me, then look at that van. Rightly denounced as un-British by UKIP, it is wholly in keeping with what has always been the political culture of Australia, all the way back to the Colonial period, which no one now alive can remember.

“Reverse colonisation” – economic, social, cultural, political, or in any of those cases demographic – is no more to be welcomed than any other surrender of national and parliamentary sovereignty, whether to the Executive or to the Judiciary, to the European Union or to the United States, to Israel or to the Gulf monarchs, to China or to the Russian oligarchs, to the money markets or to the media moguls, to separatists or to communalists.

Trust David Lindsay to get it wrong.

The majority of people deported for immigration offenses are from Asia – see http://www.migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/briefings/deportations-removals-and-voluntary-departures-uk

So it makes perfect sense, with the limited resources available, to focus on areas in the UK where Asian illegal immigrants are likely to try to hide. There is no more racism in the Home Office campaign than there is in the Brixton police focusing on Brixton-based criminals when investigating robberies in Brixton.

The majority of people deported for immigration offenses are from Asia – see

Because the majority who get deported are from South Asia doesn’t mean the majority of over-stayers are from South Asia.

to focus on areas in the UK where Asian illegal immigrants are likely to try to hide

Yeah, and this is why most of those getting arrested are brown – because people like yourself demand the authorities focus on the Asians than the whites. Nah, nothing discriminatory about that at all.

14. Labour Supporter

Actually, it pretty much does, Sunny. Unless you are claiming that the authorities are failing to deport some overstayers, or deporting others who haven’t overstayed. Are you?

“The Racist Van is touring areas with large South Asian populations while offering translation facilities in South Asian languages only. Yet the biggest overstayers are Australians, New Zealanders, and white South Africans”

For the tenth thousand time, we again await Sunny (or David) to provide evidence for this claim. One suspects Mr. L is basically lying because he hopes no one calls him on it.

Be in absolutely no doubt what you are witnessing. Vast swathes of the Left have virtually said, “promoting and enforcing immigration law is ‘racist'”

The Conservative Party should make a campaign of all of this.

I was always skeptical about the ‘Left supports mass immigration for political reasons”. Now one has to wonder.

You lot never seem to get so animated about the gang masters/slave wages/exploitation/slums/driving down wages/taking locals jobs/ associated with illegal immigration.

It’s only the ‘anti-illegal immigration van’ that seems to wind you up.

Quite apart from all the divergent views on the vans, surely the biggest questions is whether immigration is intrinsically desirable.

My personal view is that the vans are not racist , distasteful maybe, but they dont mention race just illegality so not racist.

Spot the not so hidden agenda!

So is immigration a good thing?

So is immigration a good thing?

A good thing for whom?

For the state?

Well economics would tell you that sometimes it’s a good thing and sometimes it’s a bad thing depending where we are on the cycle. It would also tell you that some types of immigration is more beneficial than some other types.

But could anybody really care less whether or not it’s good for the state?

The question surely should be whether or not it’s good for the individuals who migrate and presumably they think it is or they wouldn’t do it.

I absolutely support their right to freedom of movement and it is strange to me that constraint and restriction on where people may work and live seems so…. normal.

My personal view is that the vans are not racist , distasteful maybe, but they dont mention race just illegality so not racist.

They intentionally echo a racist slogan. They don’t need to say “f**k off P***s” to deliver a racist message.

So is immigration a good thing?

You may as well ask if fire or water are a “good thing”. If properly managed, yes. But in all cases, I’d prefer it slightly out of control to none whatsoever.

Be in absolutely no doubt what you are witnessing. Vast swathes of the Left have virtually said, “promoting and enforcing immigration law is ‘racist’”

You can repeat this as often as you like and it won’t make it true.

Another vintage whine from damon.

“Yes it was showboating and looking to potential voters by the Tories, but like anything to do with racism (or the EDL or whatever today) the left know only shrill crys of ”racism” as a response to such things”.

If the cap fits, dude. 😀

“Your comment is not clear – can you avoid the adhominems this time, and restate for the benefit of us”.

Your comment makes no sense. Have you just discovered the words “ad hominems”?

Sunny @9, what you do well is polarise all debate.
We’re either with you on the side of the angles, or trolls and lumpen backward UKIP types – or worse.
I don’t know why you do it, but as your blog is one of the most popular left blogs, it shows left thought to be stuck up a PC cul-de-sac IMO.

Have you never watched programmes like Channel 4’s excellent ‘Unreported World’?
This one from northern Nigeria was terrible.
A report on the devastating effects of child marriage and pregnancy in Nigeria, where nearly half of all girls in the country’s northern states are married by the age of 15, often to much older men.

I think I’m just saying how things actually are.
Yeman is dangerous for westerners. There was a woman talking from there on the TV yesterday who said five of her friends had been kidnapped. It’s a tribal society not compatable with ours in the UK.

And Sunny, you laugh at me, but you were on national TV talking about Earls Court. Asking why they weren’t doing immigration raids down there. Because we all know that thousands of Ausies try to smuggle themselves into the UK every year, or who just don’t return home after their holiday work visas runs out. And they are still living in the illegal limboland of the black economy a decade later.
Well, you might think that happens, but I have never heard of such a thing. And I haven’t seen queues of Ausies outside the Home Office’s Lunar House here in Croydon either.

South Africans are a different issue though. Some of them (white ones) feel that they can’t go back as it just doesn’t work for them as a country. A white guy just can’t go and get a job as a van driver or something in South Africa like he might do in England. It doesn’t work that way there. Their race works against them in such a situation. White guys don’t get casual work like that.

Elveden – claim back the Koh-i-noor, the elites nicked under duress!

I find it funny visiting Scotland, having a great curry and not understanding every other word
– cos of the broad scottish/glaswegian accents:)

@11 David Lindsay

‘Yet the biggest overstayers are Australians, New Zealanders, and white South Africans.’

As someone who was brought up in NZ I too would like to see the evidence supporting this claim. I have known many antipodeans living in the UK but am not aware of any living here illegally.

Evidence please.
