The Spirit Level documentary campaign was one of the big successes of last year – smashing targets to raise over £45,000 in 40 days to make the film. It was also awarded a place in the Top 12 Global Film Campaigns of the Year on the fund-raising platform Indiegogo.

So what’s happened since? Director Katharine Round was able to hire a crew and travel over 5,000 miles across the US, UK and Europe to interview some of the world’s leading thinkers.

They say that those raising their voices against the rapid shift in wealth upwards – from the Deputy MD of the IMF, to Sir Max Hastings – have been sometimes surprising.

The makers of “The Spirit Level”, released new material from the forthcoming film on the effects of inequality this week.

A two minute trailer has been put together from a selection of some of the interviews so far.

The team are now planning to film the human stories from the frontline –showing first hand how Strivers vs Skivers and other damaging rhetorics are masking the bigger issue of the wealth grab from the bottom to the top of society.

You can still help the project achieve its aims by pre-buying your copy – find out more at
