Tory MEP Dan Hannan claims Saudis have “bought” MPs

A few days ago, this Twitter exchange took place (via @Arrest_Bankers)

What’s interesting is that Daniel Hannan MEP quickly deleted his tweet after several people asked him to name and shame.
Update: my mistake, I was told he deleted it and should have checked.
Either way, an interesting allegation. Perhaps he could elaborate on it?

Why he deleted it? Because he couldn’t back it up, obviously.
I am not comfortable with how Twitter and other technology companies have bought so many people writing for “Liberal Conspiracy”.
He hasn’t deleted the tweet, it is still there.
It’s still there: https://twitter.com/DanHannanMEP/status/319499517466640385
Saudi Arabia is the elephant in the room, a key factor in many areas but rarely mentioned. It is a key player in the civil war in Syria, though this is usually omitted in statements by the UK government. Saudi Arabia played a key role in preventing the USA from overthrowing Saddam Hussein in 1991. The invasion of Iraq happened when it did because Saudi Arabia was weakened diplomatically by the events of 11th September 2001. But everyone is too polite to point this out.
Saudi Arabia doesn’t need to buy politicians. They are all automatically nice to Saudi Arabia, as it is the swing state in world oil production and it knows where the bodies are buried in too many stories from the past.
So… you’re going to retract this article? Apologise maybe?
Why can’t you say anything about them?

Good for Hannan. Al Yamamah made it pretty clear it’s not just backbenchers in their pocket.
Well here’s Plymouth MP Oliver Colvile being rented, rather than bought, by the Saudi’s

And Bournemouth’s MP Tobias Elwood also working for the Saudi’s

And Filton’s Jack Lopresti

Correction made – article still stands. Would love to hear more on this allegation 🙂
Hannan’s Tweet is typical of his appetite for the Drive-By e-Shooting. He makes an allegation he can’t back up, then quickly moves on and hopes that the speed at which he goes on to make yet another allegation puts people off catching him.
He’s even pulled a similar tactic on his Tel blog, as I’ve shown here:
The bloke is amazingly blatant. And we of course pay for him to do it.
He should go work for Fox News, Refits perfect with Bill O Reilly.
@11
I’ve pulled up Hannan loads of times on my blog. He’s a master of hyperbole and bullshit. His support of Ron Paul is interesting. What’s more interesting is his support for the Ludwig von Mises Institute and its penchant for historical revisionism vis a vis the US Civil War and slavery.
