Will this email finish off Jeremy Hunt?

The Leveson inquiry published a devastating new email from News International’s Fred Michels to Rebekah Brooks.
Here it is (via Guardian live-blog). Looks like the end of the line for Jeremy Hunt.
Fred Michel to Rebekah Brooks:
27 June 2011 16:29Hunt will be making references to phone hacking in his statement on Rubicon this week.
He will be repeating the same narrative as the one he gave in Parliament few weeks ago.
This is based on his belief that the police is pursing things thoroughly and phone hacking has nothing to do with the media plurality issues.
It’s extremely helpful.
On the issue of the privacy committee he supports a widening of its remit to the future of the press and evidence from all newspaper groups on the regulatory regime.
He wants to prevent a public inquiry. For this the committee will need to come up a strong report in the autumn and put enough pressure on the PCC to strength itself and take recommendations forward.
JH is now starting to looking to phone hacking/practices more thoroughly and has asked me to advise him privately in the coming weeks and guide his and No 10′s positioning…

Here is what Jeremy Hunt said to Parliament on June 30 2011 as prefigured by Michel on June 27 in his email to Brooks (next tweet)

JH – “Therefore while the phone-hacking allegations are very serious they were not material to my consideration” regarding Sky bid.

Can’t we just take Hunt, Cameron, Coulson, Brooks, Murdoch, and Murdoch junior and waterboard them until they tell us the truth.
After all according to Murdoch’s Fox news waterboarding is not torture. It’s just a bit of high jinks.

Well ok then but only if we can throw in Osbourne and Clegg as well.
Will this e-mail finish off Jeremy Hunt : All the witnesses at the Leveson inquiry have so far shown signs that they have all been suffering from a severe case of Dementia and will no doubt go on sick leave with full pay and additional benefits. Most will probably leave office with a big severance package costing the tax payer millions.
I have personally dealt with people that suffer from Dementia and I can tell you for certain that all the witnesses so far have shown severe signs of Dementia and were unfit to carry out any type of work. God knows how these people held onto jobs that were so powerful along with all the responsibilities that went with.
With memory problems, forgetfulness and the inability to answer questions without a strained effort and long pause these witnesses should have been before a doctor not an inquiry.
My diagnosis is that they are seriously ill suffering from Dementia or playing games to deceive the inquiry.
They have not got dementia. They are using the now standard defence of right wing types. Which is commonly called The Ronald Reagan defence. “I can’t remember”
It’s a brilliant defence because you can not commit perjury using it. It does make you look very stupid, and people wonder how you got the job if you are so forgetful. But shame is not something these people care about. They have no shame.
No, I don’t think it will. For two reasons.
Firstly, political. currently Hunt is acting as a shield for Cameron. He will only, metaphorically speaking, be thrown off the sleigh if the wolves are at Cameron’s throat. This is not yet the case. So Hunt is needed.
Secondly, as a perceptive piece in the “New Statesman” last weekend pointed out. Cameron genuinely does not think there’s a problem, other than a PR/presentational one. He comes from a class which routinely mixes with the high and mighty, and considers this natural and normal. Further, he thinks of himself as a “Chap”—with an inbred and instinctive moral compass that would prevent any wrong actions. That’s why he gets so shirty when it is suggested there were moral failures—it threatens his whole concept of himself.

Yes indeed, this Tory Led Coalition of evil along with all it’s associates operate just like you would expect of a Mafia organisation.
Did not see, here, say or do anything. Failing that I/They cannot remember or it was an administration error, misunderstanding, mistake, slight misjudgment of error or whatever other legal loophole that they have at their disposal after getting their stories together with the help of good legal advice.
This is like a big game of chess to them and at the end of the day some of them will make millions from a book or two. They will not lose anything from all this because their club will always look after each other one way or another. Even the establishment gives them a severance payment if they have to move on.

WRT Cameroon’s thought processes: I think yours is a very incisive and accurate analysis. You hit the nail right on the proverbial head, IMHO.
WRT Hunt: Cameroon stated in the House of Commons 2012-04-25 that Hunt has is “full support” – as we know.
Forgive my scepticism, but in my experience, the old “full support” line generally signals the beginning of the end. That sort of statement is only ever made because the politician concerned has become a total liability. My guess is that Hunt will be gone within a few weeks.
