It could be worse, couldn’t it?

Oh, no sorry, my bad. In fact, the beatings will continue until morale improves.

Liberal Conspiracy has a reputation about the same as the Lib Dems for producing dodgy graphs, lack of proper labeling doesn’t help to improve this.
What is the x axis supposed to represent? Months? Some other arbitary time unit? I realise that this might be a little radical, but, if so, might it not be a good idea to actually label it?
Osborne is a history graduate, not an economist, and he evidently can’t or won’t read the FT.
Months since previous peak GDP. The original graph is from the Office of National Statistics who didn’t explicitly label that axis either.
http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/dcp171766_263951.pdf (page 2)
Where are TimJ, Tyler and all the other neoliberals who always condescend to give us the benefit of their economic wisdom?
Their silence is not only defeaning, but telling too.
@3 unfortunately the x-axis is not months, it’s in quarters.
We are still approx 4% below peak GDP, some 16 quarters after this recession began. And it looks like we have slipped further into recession in the last quarter, altough there is some doubt about the accuracy of the latest growth figures.
What is the x axis supposed to represent?
Represents quarters doesn’t it, that’s why it says at the bottom ‘Q1->’
It’s not as clear as it could be, but it’s not ‘dodgy’ either.
I would be inclined to agree that ” George Osborne is officially creating the British Great Depression”.
As far as I am concerned George Osborne should have remained in Selfrigdes Depertment Store as a towel refolder.
Can you believe the fact that a person (George Osborne) was folding towels for a living in Selfridges only a few years ago and now his buddy Cameron has given him the responsibility of dealing with the British Economy.
These toffs are really taking the piss !
