This is the highlight of the Republican CNBC debate last night – effectively ending any chance of Rick Perry becoming the candidate.
His debate performance has gone from bad to worse… which is quite a feat in itself.

I was somewhat disappointed to see that Perry has not actually spontaneously combusted.
On another subject, I wonder if he has ever made jokes about any of the people he has had executed? His predecessor as governor, George W. Bush, certainly did.
Credit where it’s due. More than a month back, Karl Rove – GWB’s election guru – described Perry’s position on social security as “toxic”. I suspect more than a few Republicans will feel content about Perry’s political demise in the US Presidential primaries. OTOH Democrats may have mixed feelings as Perry was an electoral asset for them. It will he harder for Democrats to pitch against Romney but it’s not at all certain he can attract Tea Party suppport.
Par for the course for Perry. This gaffe was especially painful to watch and spells the end of his presidential aspirations. I am seriously glad to see him self-destruct in this typical manner.
Romney is the man for the job against Obama. By mid-February the final match-up for 2012 will be set up.
