The Norwegian terrorist Anders B. Breivik posted a manifesto to the web which warned of “Islamic colonisation” of Western Europe and offered a plan to deal with the problem.

Norway’s TV2 reported that the attacker had uploaded a 1,500 page manifesto, written in English, and a video to YouTube just hours before the attack.

YouTube has now taken down the video, though the manifesto remains published on Google Docs.

It is titled: “2083 – A European Declaration of Independence”.

The introduction says it contains the following topics:

1. The rise of cultural Marxism/multiculturalism in Western Europe

2. Why the Islamic colonization and Islamisation of Western Europe began

3. The current state of the Western European Resistance Movements (anti-Marxist/anti-Jihad movements)

4. Solutions for Western Europe and how we, the resistance, should move forward in the coming decades

5. + Covering all, highly relevant topics including solutions and strategies for all of the 8 different political fronts

The manifesto can be read from here.

In it he says:

The compendium/book presents advanced ideological, practical, tactical, organisational and rhetorical solutions and strategies for all patriotic-minded individuals/movements.

The book will be of great interest to you whether you are a moderate or a more dedicated cultural conservative/nationalist.

The manifesto also offers frequent references to far-right websites such as Jihad Watch, Gates of Vienna and Frontpage magazine.

It also cites paragraphs from the American far-right blogger Robert Spencer.

As Paul Woodward points out:

The Oslo killings, however, should be seen in a different light since there is a wealth of evidence to suggest that the perpetrator of this atrocity, even if it turns out he was acting alone, was very much part of a political movement — a movement whose leading ideologues regularly appear on Fox News and have high public profiles.

Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch does indeed regularly appear on Fox News.

His ideology was really pretty bog-standard anti-Muslim/anti-Leftist/anti-“multiculturalism”, on both sides of the Atlantic. Perhaps he was deranged anyway, but if we believe in the power of ideas, I don’t think we can excuse the entire cynical clique of writers of the “Eurabia” genre.

Words have consequences and sometimes those who race-bait will find somebody to take the bait!

The early sections (political correctness is the source of our cultural denegration) sounds surprisingly familiar…

Later on when you get to the blog section (his diary leading up to the killing spree) he mentions the EDL a few times, but regards them as disorganized and, oddly, anti-fascist.

The video is really strange and ends with a sequence showing Anders/Andrew in Masonic regalia, then a military uniform, then kitted out with a huge gun, knife, sight combo.

He says he’s part of the Knights Templar and is involved in a crusade that has been ongoing for centuries. He also plays a lot of computer games – Bioshock, Fallout 3, etc – which will provide grist to the mill for anti-gaming people.

Wonder who’ll be first to argue that this is just another example of Islamic terrorism, since “He only did it because of the Muslims”.

We can call it what you like it was a dam sad day for the parents and families of the dead and wounded.

Why he did it only he knows, I suspect in his mind he was fighting for something or other, sadly by the look of it he’s suffering serious mental health issues.

Ban the mail and fox news then have compulsory guardian reading year and few of sunnys mates blog fest, then everyone will be nice.Poeple will be nice. I will, be nice

The early sections (political correctness is the source of our cultural denegration) sounds surprisingly familiar…

Eighty nine mentions of ‘political correctness’ and the people who have spent the past twenty years building the ‘pc gone mad’ hegemony out of fictions (and profiting from it) will never face any repercussions.

Externalization, easy when you know how.

Craig Willy- “I don’t think we can excuse the entire cynical clique of writers of the “Eurabia” genre.”

That’s like saying that those who opposed the war in Iraq shouldn’t be excused for the 7/7 bombings because Mohammad Siddique Khan echoed some of the antiwar rhetoric being used at the time.

I don’t think you should link to that document, not only because you shouldn’t give him the publicity but because it gives detailed advice on making WMDs.

@7 Ross

“That’s like saying that those who opposed the war in Iraq shouldn’t be excused for the 7/7 bombings because Mohammad Siddique Khan echoed some of the antiwar rhetoric being used at the time.”

No, it really isn’t at all like it and the fact you can’t see the difference is both worrying and somewhat sad.

We heard this kind of claptrap a lot in earlier discussions about muslims being berated for not condemning terrorist attacks, and it was comprehensively rubbished then for the offensive drivel it was.

The large cadre of right wing wing nuts harping on about Eurabia, and the imposition of sharia law, and all the other lunatic dystopian nightmares they like to frighten their credulous followers with, are infinitely more worrying, and a much greater danger in the long term to our liberties and freedom than their hobby horse issues of the west being swamped by coffee coloured people.

The fundamentalist Christian right in the USA, antiabortionists, the back woods gun nuts and white supremacists, and their European counterparts lap this kind of thing up, because their useful idiots on the “mainstream” far right help prepare the ground for them. The BNP, EDF, National Front, Geert Wilders, the Austrian People’s Party… they start out extreme…and then lo and behold, they endue up in coalitions with the mainstream right.

Trying to deflect attention from the sins of the right by lamely crying “Yeah, but whaddabout.. you know… Saddiq Khan..” isn’t just weak…it’s vapid.

Ah but the difference between this terrorist and Saddique Khan is that Khan was motivated by anger towards the injustice of the Iraq war and the British government’s support of American oppression of the Muslim people whilst this terrorist was motivated by pure hatred of Muslims and immigrants.
So whilst some on the Left were hesitant in outrightly condeming Khan’s actions they won’t be in condeming the actions of this terrorist.
But both are terrorist attacks that have killed innocent people and ruined lives.

Turning the deaths of 91 people into a political football is disgusting.

@11 They were murdered for political reasons. Trying to pretend the consequences of this is “political football” is what is truly disgusting.

” Wonder who’ll be first to argue that this is just another example of Islamic terrorism, since “He only did it because of the Muslims”. ”

It was noticeable how those susceptible to frothing and vomiting bile about Muslims immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was an act of Islamic terrorism. When it transpired that he was Christian conservative right-winger, they effortlessly moved on to blaming Muslims anyway for provoking him. Mr Cameron initially said we must root out those capable of such terrorist acts. He would not have far to look to find those who share the same worldview as the terrorist. The type of people who hang out posting on the Mail and Telegraph site would have almost identical views as Anders B. Breivik. That does not make such people all potential terrorists. However, it is an indication how warped their worldview really is in reality. His views ticked all the obsession boxes of the fruitcakes. Would Mr Breivik have looked a radical on Fox and Friends or fitted right in?

Christian conservatives will be quick to dismiss him as not a true Christian. They will be right, as not all Christian conservative right-wingers are terrorists. However, that argument also applies when Muslims say Islamic terrorists are not true Muslims. If this had been an Islamic outrage the poster Just Visiting would have just visited and been all over the thread like a rash to imply all Muslims are potential terrorists. I doubt whether he will just visit this thread when the terrorist is one of his own.

You had me reading until you had to slip in the Fox News bit..Now I am turned off and won’t be back, you have an agenda and it isn’t mine..Your a communist web site..Your one of them…

16. flyingrodent

Hmm, yes. If this nutter was caught with a copy of the Communist Manifesto in his pocket, you’d hear the wailing from Fiji.

Once it turns out he’s espousing a position that’s commonly expressed in publications like the Mail and the Spectator – that the Muslims and the left are intentionally undermining Europe via multiculturalism and so on – suddenly, raising this as a negative is unacceptable politicisation.

Call me cynical, but I think this might stem less from a desire to respect the dead and their relatives than it does from an intense desire to change the subject to something a lot less politically inconvenient.

Very much echo Paul Woodwards’s comments. I think there are also some serious questions about whether it’s right to link to this manifesto. Breivik did this to attract attention to his ideas – to what extent are we pandering to his wishes by drawing attention to them. Some thoughts here:
http://s.coop/3e0g

Ahem. Correct link http://wp.me/uCip

I need to stop doing this!

19. the a&e charge nurse

Anders B. Breivik was an equal opportunities hater – women, liberals, the church, muslims, and especially his own family (apparently estranged from his biological father for over 10 years).

He seems to be a man with a grudge rather than any coherent political ideas – in other words his ‘manifesto’ was simply a cloak for far deeper psychological demons?

I assume if he hated muslims that much he would have targeted something that symbolised their presence in Norway rather than a summer camp for labour supporters?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Norway

@19 You would think so, but then again gangs of EDL supporters regularly attack SWP and trade unionist meetings too. They regard the “cultural Marxists” as being the collaborators that enable the “Islamic colonisation” of the west, and as such their removal is the necessary first step toward the expulsion of Islam, after all what’s the point of fighting and killing Muslims if the “cultural Marxists” are just going to let “reinforcements” come in willy-nilly? That’s why he targeted Labour’s leadership with his bombs and gunned down Labour’s future when they were trapped on the island with him.

Oh Dear, I suspect this bloke was a bit of a loner who lived his life in his head, he saw Muslims as some threat to him, and he saw the Labour party as commies, and he saw people as being not like him, he was what most people would call a psychopath or raving bloody mad.

I suspect he will now become a hero to some.

@16…amen to that…though one wonders what a state of confusion some of those people must of been in when they just decide to spew their shit on to the internet the moment these atrocities occurred then finding out that the man behind these outrages was infact spewing the same shit days before.

It is pretty depressing reading the comments on CIF.
Right wing posters talk of retaliation against Muslim attacks.
A few myths to be dispensed with.
1. He had ample opportunity to express his views. He was a member of the second largest Norwegian party (the progress party) who believed in low taxation, anti muslim and immigration. So his views were not suppressd by a PC government (who by the way are in Afghanistan and took part in the Libyan operations). Just because his party was not in power does not explain or excuse his actions. You don’t see ex labour party members running amok at a young Tory rally or vice versa
You get the feeling with many right wing posters that his actions are slightly justified.
2. The sins of the fathers argument will be used by the right wing media. I cannot wait to read the ramblings of Nick Cohen, Harrys Place and other standpointers when they blame the Norwegian Labour government for the tragedy. .

There is heart of darkness in many of the right , especially in the media and right wing bloggers and posters (there are so many) that are “turned on” or sympathise with this guy. Funny enough I think the politicos of the right don’t have that hate.
