Watch: The alternative to government’s cuts
A lot of journalists keep asking what is the alternative to the government’s policies. Apparently the left does not know what it opposes or what it stands for.
Rubbish, I say. This video by the TUC is perhaps the clearest explanation of what ‘an alternative’ means. This should be our narrative.

DeMint started the recession.
Bit late now, but they’ve got the labels for ‘tax’ and ‘spending’ the wrong way round on the graph showing the ‘tax collapse in the recession’ about 30 seconds in (making it look as if spending fell rapidly while tax revenue continued to grow, resulting in a huge budget surplus).
Good video though.
Interesting that the graph at 00:21 is false, according to the TUC’s own figures http://www.tuc.org.uk/economy/tuc-18270-f0.pdf (page 3/4).
Their own actual research done by Tim Horton and Howard Reed put the total change in income for the poorest decile at 21.7% not the ~35% in the video.
