‘Tories planned to smear Andrew Lansley rapper’

by Sunny Hundal

Paul Waugh at PoliticsHome has an interesting post on how Cameron lost the debate on NHS changes by failing to persuade anyone of the benefits.

But at the end he adds:

I’m told that the Conservatives were so worried by the Lansley rap that there was a plan to get CCHQ to troll the comments on YouTube and call the rapper a dangerous lefty. Surely this can’t be true….?

That rapper is of course Mc Next Gen, and his video has now racked up an incredible quarter of a million views.

Trolling comments on YouTube, pfft social media amateurs if this was really considered! There’s over 1000 on that video as it is, and tbh not many people care about comments on there as you get a lot of trolling anyway…

The comments are all pretty positive, so: ha!

That’s the first time I’ve seen that vid, and it’s pretty good, although the different rhythms in the vocal and the House of the Rising Sun behind it admittedly spun my head out a bit.

Quality, the Tories are scared of yet another Eminem wannabe… How embarrassing, they’ve been pwnd by a kid who thinks repetition of the word tosser is powerful rhetoric. Oh, the uncoolness of it all; both on the part of the rapper, the Tories and the general pubic.

The Tories should’ve trolled him down as a ‘chav’, that would’ve been entertaining…

The Tories are getting desparate because they are being exposed for what they are, deceitful liars that are in it for themselves with a view to feathering their own nests.

“Quality, the Tories are scared of yet another Eminem wannabe”

Just because he’s a rapper doesn’t mean he wants to be the only rapper you’ve heard of.

Hmm, using an alleged smear campaign to unsubstantiatedly smear the tories with a headline in scare quotes. Pathetic.

I dont like his lace up baseball cap

Insightful as ever Falco. It really is the Tories’ critics rather than the Tories themselves who have come out looking pathetic in this whole NHS business. I think all impartial observers would agree on that.

@8 It is quite easy to draw a distinction between honestly argued criticism of policy and the steaming pile of ordure that is this article.

The latest portrait of Andrew Lansley, the minister for health:
http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/online/pre-raphaelites/scapegoat/

“Cameron therefore knew exactly what Lansley planned long before the election. Even after the election the prime minister focused on the Lansley reforms. Downing Street had a bit of a wobble in the autumn and despatched Oliver Letwin, the cabinet’s policy troubleshooter, to assess the reforms.

“Letwin – excuse the pun – gave them a clean bill of health. This explains why Cameron wholeheartedly endorsed the Lansley reforms in a speech on 17 January this year, two days before the publication of the Health and Social Care Bill. The prime minister didn’t just give the reforms a tick – he said they symbolised his entire ‘Big Society’ approach to reforming public services.”
