The reforms don’t go far enough. The NHS should be fully privatised.

I can cjcjc sharpening his claws from here!

I can see why he’s supporting the NHS – he wants to make use of it. He’s obviously got multiple chin syndrome, and enough adipose tissue for three people. It’s what comes from consuming more of the earth’s resources than necessary. Yes, it’s a gastric band he’s angling for.

@3

Maybe he’ll get the next bed to greedy bastard Pickles?

He is right tho in as much as why do we need to copy the broken system of the USA? Private health care. Private universities. Elected police commissioners. Will we be getting a batman soon as well?

Why not go the whole hog and adopt their defecit reduction strategy!!

Wait, is the same Michael Moore who made a documentary showing the NHS giving cash to patients upon discharge? The NHS needs support,.just maybe they should get someone who actually knows how they work

“Wait, is the same Michael Moore who made a documentary showing the NHS giving cash to patients upon discharge?”

I think that was accurate: http://www.nnuh.nhs.uk/Dept.asp?ID=330

Although he did ham it up like hell in Sicko. Along with making the NHS look like a glowing beacon of ultimate awesomeness. I mean, it’s good, but it’s not THAT good.

compared with the american system it is practically the best thing ever.

Trofim @ 3

Good come back there and some valid points. Good to see the Tory vermin up to their usual standard of debate. Had you not made that reply, then perhaps we could not have gained from your vast knowledge of the NHS and we might have got the impression that your average Tory was just a mindless fuckwits.

Thanks for your input there.

Thanks Chaise, maybe I should take my own advice and find out how it works

[1] “The reforms don’t go far enough. The NHS should be fully privatised” – what a carefully considered argument, eh?

I particularly like the way you detail benefits for patients, especially those groups suffering with a chronic condition that is not amenable to easy profit – smashing.

FWIW, that scene whilst significantly Ham-y wasn’t inaccurate. Certain groups of very poorly off people are entitled to claim travel costs for attending hospital. I think the money does come from the NHS budget but I’m not sure. The point of the scene, of course, was the dramatic comparison with American hospitals where you need a gold-plated credit-card to get care.

For what I remember of Sicko, he portrayed the NHS reasonably accurately.
