Press Association reported:

Student demonstrators interrupted a debate with Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt at the London School of Economics. About 30 demonstrators chanted “Minister of Culture, Tory vulture” and “Tory scum” at the central London event.

The Cabinet minister was speaking to journalist Ray Snoddy when the event was interrupted.

Some protesters such as Guy Aitchison weren’t too comfortable with usage of ‘Tory Scum’ as a chant either.

By many accounts this was the most exciting part of the lecture. Oh, unless you’re Haroon Siddique who seems to have blocked a lot of the exciting part out in his article.

“He’s not saying anything”.

“Wait, wait”.

They waited. Nothing.

Not sure how trying to silence Jeremy Hunt helps anybody. Would have been better if the protest was more constructive e.g. they had joined the audience.

It was quite sweet in a rather boorish way. The protestors were so ‘straight out of central casting’ that some people asked us whether we had hired actors to enliven the event.
We’re not quite sure exactly why they disrupted the event. Hunt had already met with them by prior arrangement for ten minutes before the lecture and there were lots of people in the audience who were also keen to take Hunt to task. So the idea that Raymond Snoddy and 400 other people weren’t going to give Hunt a hard time was laughable.
The effect of the protest was to create a wave of sympathy for Hunt amongst a generally hostile audience. He was even prepared to meet the protestors again afterwards but they had disappeared.
They could easily have got tickets for the event and indeed, a couple did stay behind to ask questions.
So the only purpose of them breaking down a door and intimidating young female LSE Events staff seems to be to create an amusing piece of phsyical theatre to be filmed for YouTube.
I am sure both Murdoch and the Government are quaking in their boots.
Long live freedom of expression!

Kids! Don’t you just love ‘em? I wish I could be around in 30 years time to see what they’ve turned into.

Yes Trofim,
But then we all get old.
My personal bet is that Laurie Penny, for example, will do a Suzanne Moore and end up in a big house in Islington writing a column for the Daily Mail while being an official National Treasure on Radio 4′s Midweek.

“He was even prepared to meet the protestors again afterwards but they had disappeared.”

If true that is funny as hell!
