Live coverage: protests against tax avoidance

by Sunny Hundal

Direct action is today taking place across the country to highlight tax avoidance, organised by the activists at UKuncut.

Follow the live updates on Twitter from here. I am also taking part.

It all kicks off a few minutes after 11am.

Is it ever possible to have a mass protest that isn’t hijacked by the SWP? The public are likely to sympathise with a movement against “tax dodging”, not with communists.

There were no SWP at our protest in Liverpool.

Why are the police helping this organisation when it’s owner avoids paying UK tax. He and his wife choose to live in a tax haven deserve no protection of their assets here. The police is paid for by hard working British citizens.

The tax payers alliance should get right on it……..oh wait………..

3 – Top Shop has contributed millions to the Exchequer, some of which will fund the police.

But of course you already know this.

3 Phillip Green is a UK tax resident and pays all the tax he is required to. His wife is not a British citizen and is resident in Monaco, and is therefore not liable for any tax in the UK.

” Phillip Green is a UK tax resident and pays all the tax he is required to. His wife is not a British citizen and is resident in Monaco, and is therefore not liable for any tax in the UK”.

HA HA HA

So he loves his wife so much that he lives in another country to her? He lives here for his business interests, while his wife, who he gave a shit load of shares too lives in a tax haven that he just happens to fly out to almost every week.

No surprise you support this ludicrous nonsense because the tory butler class will always defend their corporate masters.

On another note, what the Hell was Polly Toynbee doing there? Given that the Guardian’s owners partake in tax avoidance she’s hardly one to talk!
