BNP membership dives to below 10,000

The BNP’s membership has dived to below 10,000, says Eddy Butler – one of Nick Griffin’s most ferocious challengers to the leadership of the party.

In a blogpost yesterday he said:

At the Advisory Council meeting held a couple of weeks ago it was announced that the BNP now has only 10,000 members. This means that in the space of a few short months, we have lost 4,000 members. This is easily the highest rate of decline in the party’s history.

Do you remember when they announced the figure had gone up to over 14,000? They had a special ticker counting the memberships going up one by one. Since then that ticker has been spinning rapidly in reverse. We have haemorrhaged members. It is shocking.

Note that Eddy Butler really hates Nick Griffin and wanted him ousted as leader. The figures have not been confirmed anywhere else.

Butler later adds:

It is interesting to note that Jim Dowson and Nick Griffin used to wax lyrical about how the party needed 20,000 members in order to become self sustaining and that we would reach that goal this Christmas. I reckon by Christmas we will be down to 8,000.

I had a chat with a senior and experienced ex-Regional Organiser this week. He reckons that if Nick Griffin remains in charge, this time next year the party will be down to 4,000 members. I was a little more hopeful and put the figure at 5,000. Frankly, in view of the decline we have seen since May, I think we were both drastically over optimistic.

This is the legacy that Nick Griffin is bequeathing to us. He is a wrecker and has become a total disaster area for our party and for the cause.

Long may the demise of the BNP continue.

They’re probably all joining Labour.

Anybody who’ll protect ‘em from those wicked muslims.

And immigrants.

And gingers :)

Maybe Griffin does work for MI5 after all!

If we took the membership figures for all “our” partly political parties what fraction would it be of the total electorate in our banana republic? One per cent perhaps?

The BNP is an Establishment ruse to stifle fair comment about immigration and the destruction of English culture….the real scandal is that no party with any hope of election dares challenge King George Soros and his pals in Washington and Wall street.

You chaps can rant and rave like me but you won`t “change” anything in British politics or stop Washington deciding where our cash is spent!

There must be a fair number of ex-BNP members who don’t trust the party to keep their name off some leaked members list. It must be quite disconcerting to be outed as a fascist. I bet many people didn’t renew their membership for that reason.

If the BNP does start to die out like the National Front did during the 1980′s, do you think a new far-right party will emerge? I’m not sure if you could call the EDL a far-right movement and I don’t know if they will ever become a political party as opposed to a protest group.

Or do you think that the far-right is shrinking in popularity? My fear is that hard times will see a rise in far-right views, although one could argue that extreme Islamist groups are already on the far-right as well.

The EDL are even more impotent than the BNP. Stop treating either like they’re capable of bringing democracy to it’s knees and they’ll remain a risible force in British politics.

5

So who is it that’s to blame for this destruction again…. the immigrants, George Soros, “Washington”….?

I think your raving, and the raving of the generality of people on LC might be a tad different somehow!

The general population have had a number of years now on their Nintendo brain trainers. But they are still dumb. I would have thought the commentors on here a bit more awake though. But most of them keep calling what we have democracey when it is statist oligarchy. You may be comfortable with what you have and were you are now. But give it time and you too will be under the heel.

You may be comfortable with what you have and were you are now.

If people here are comfortable with what they have, why is there so much discussion about how to right perceived wrongs?

10

Under whose heel do you expect us to be exactly? Can you explain how this statist oligarchy controlling us is any more real than the paranoid fantasies bothering Jim Evan @ 5 above please?

Or do you think that George Soros owns a large white cat and enjoys nothing better than strloking it whils plotting world domination too?

Good grief…where do these people come from….?

13. straighteyes

@shatterface
I am told there is a well financed political wing of the EDL to go mainstream early next year. At present it is going under the name of wearethebritish. I have tried to get more information but they refuse to give out any until they publish their site etc next year.

Well considering how far right the coalition has gone, the lost BNP members might represent the number of people who now feel that they don’t need to join it.

@Galen10
What a lickspittle you are. Anyone with a different opinion than your own narrow one is menatlly ill.”These people”? What a piece of work you are.

What heart warming news.

If we took the membership figures for all “our” partly political parties what fraction would it be of the total electorate in our banana republic? One per cent perhaps?

So what? The BNP has an order of magnitude less members than the main parties. It gets orders of magnitude less votes than the main parties (1.9% of the vote in 2010).

People aren’t generally inclined to join political parties. They are less inclined to join the BNP.

More bad news for everyone’s favourite cartoon fascists: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11708934

:D

straighteyes,

Pot…

Kettle.

Such a small party and such a large thorn in the establishments side. All opposition will be crushed.Once we agreed to differ.

ukliberty. the uk population are not on here. They are watching x factor as well you know.

straighteyes,

ukliberty. the uk population are not on here. They are watching x factor as well you know.

Yes: 15m vwatch X Factor and half a million voted BNP in the last general election.

The public has relatively good taste, I feel.

Why would anyone wish to join BNP when we have the LibDems? I want to throw up everytime I hear a LibDem cabinet member speak. Yesterday I heard one of this low life trying to justify the latest attack on the unemployed. The previous week trying to justify a massive hike in student fees.

At least some people are out on the streets protesting, the latest being the occupation of Vodafone for their £6 bilion unpaid tax bill.

Grateful Vodafone executives say a big thank you to Chancellor George Osborne

It’s some stretch to re-imagine the Lib Dems as the BNP.

25. straighteyes

@UKliberty The way I see it the public voted no winners. Then the LibCon pooled it in a coup.King said the party to govern this time will be hated. Well it looks like we will get a double bonus with two hated party’s. Hopefully that will see the demise of the LibLabCon.

Just what do you see happening that will make the millions of people who currently vote “LibLabCon” not vote “LibLabCon”? And what do you see them voting for?

straighteyes @10 “The general population have had a number of years now on their Nintendo brain trainers. But they are still dumb.”

Sorry, do you mean “stupid” rather than “dumb”? Or are you actually saying that most of the population can’t speak?

@10 ” I would have thought the commentors….”

Yeah. That’ll be “commenters” not “commentors.”

@10 “But most of them keep calling what we have democracey”

Actually, I think you’ll find they don’t. They call it democracy. But, then again, most of them can spell. Unlike you.

@10 “You may be comfortable with what you have and were you are now. ”

“Where you are” rather than “were you are” surely?

@15 “Anyone with a different opinion than your own narrow one is menatlly ill.”

“Menatlly”? I don’t think so.

@25 “Well it looks like we will get a double bonus with two hated party’s.”

I think you mean “parties”, don’t you?

“Why the pedantry?” I hear you ask, in dismay. Well straighteyes, me old china, the point I’m making is that when you post on the internet calling into question the intelligence of large numbers of people (in this case “the general population” and, more specifically, people who post on here) but, in the process, demonstrate an inability to spell simple words or even string together a coherent sentence, then you make yourself look like a MASSIVE TOOL, don’t you?

Don’t feed the trolls! They’re like wasps, they go away if not engaged with.

and that blog was posted by a member who was expelled. Half of the news on this website is from unreliable sources and wouldn’t be surprised if most of it is 100% made up or at best, over exaggerated.

30. straighteyes

@apathy.tell someone who gives a fuck, great bore of our time.

Let’s be honest, the BNP are a total non-issue. They’re a bunch of weirdos without any funding mechanism or media support. They’re also pariahs in every significant demographic.

That is why (as I have argued before) UAF should be concentrating it’s energy on the fight against Labour’s racism.

That party does have a funding mechanism. It does have media support. And it also has a ‘donkey vote’ of people who feel an emotional attachment to it. That’s what makes Labour’s racism far more dangerous and destructive than that of the BNP.

15

“What a lickspittle you are. Anyone with a different opinion than your own narrow one is menatlly ill.”These people”? What a piece of work you are.”

Lickspittle?! Really? George Galloway is that you?

You were asked a fairly simple question, which (surprise, surprise!) you failed to address, still less answer in your pathetic excuse for a response. If you don’t want to be taken for a paranoid fantasist, then don’t act like one.

Pretty weak even for the usual crop of trolls on here.

33. Chaise Guevara

From reading the insightful comments on this thread, it has become clear to me that to imagine the death of the BNP, one should think of a boot stamping on a human face FOREVER.

I am now very frightened and hate everyone who looks, acts, or thinks differently from me.
