Something of a non sequitur there. I don’t agree with Stuart White’s post today but I wouldn’t deny it was well, even elegantly, argued. I rarely agree politically with Ken Loach, but I think many of his films are brilliant. This film isn’t brilliant. It makes cheap shots. An “insincere dart” as Keith Talent would say.

We have been ruled for a decade by the LibDems in Stockport. They are currently cutting transport and other services to disabled children whilst simultaneously hanging on to their £23,000 per annum free to them committee teas. Most of them are Winnie-the-Pooh shaped.

Plus, they have tried to put children in a poor area on a school site with unremediated lead, arsenic and brown asbestos. It was a former toxic waste dump. The Executive councillor responsible, Mark Weldon, said in the Manchester Evening News they expected the site to be contaminated with brown asbestos, yet they tried to leave that and the arsenic and lead in situ.

Have a look at this inadequate brown asbestos remediation they were finally forced kicking and screaming to carry out – basically two bored blokes with bin bags and a stick. One of the “experts” doesn’t keep his own respirator on, so what chance he will do his job properly to clear the site of the brown asbestos for the 550 primary school children and 78 babies who will go on the site?
