Poll: Libdems lose 25% of their supporters
More than one in five people who voted Liberal Democrat at the May general election say they would now vote Labour, according to a survey for The Independent.
The ComRes poll released yesterday shows that Nick Clegg’s party has lost the support of almost four in 10 of the people who backed the party in May.
Only 62% of them would vote for the party in another election today.
The proportion of Liberal Democrat voters who say they would now vote Labour has risen from 15% to 22% since last month. A further 7% would switch to the Tories.
However, the Liberal Democrats appear to have halted the slide in its ratings since May, when it won 23 per cent of the votes. According to ComRes, Mr Clegg’s party is now on 18 per cent, up two points on last month’s ratings. The Tories, on 38 per cent, are down one point while Labour, on 34 per cent, is up one point since last month.

the Lib Dems will take a beating at the locals next year
“25%”, “more than one in five”, “almost four in 10″
Why not just give the actual figure?
All very exciting, Libdems down to 18%, about the same as August 2009, 2008, & 2007. What a difference !
BTW, any ideas on how to pay off your £20 Millions debt yet ?
So, the never ending political cycle continues. Seriously, when are we going to get some parties that offer something a little different, rather than merely voting in one party, then eventually getting bored and voting another one in, before repeating the cycle and voting the original one back in.
Never has the phrase “it doesn’t matter who you vote for, the government always gets in” been more true.
The Lie Dems are dissolving before our eyes, but no matter, Cleggy gets to play deputy prime Minister, and that’s is what is important at Lie Dem head office. Vince Cable is humiliated almost on a daily basis. But never mind , Cleggy gets to play deputy gofer. Simon Hughes has to eat tory shit each day, but no matter because Cleggy gets to go on Blue Peter and tell everyone he is deputy Prime Minister.
Cleggy is a tory and he is destroying your party.

LOL
Surely if 25% of voters who voted Lib Dem wouldn’t now vote for them, that leaves 75% who would, rather than 62%? And if 62% would then the Lib Dems have lost 38% of their supporters, not 25% – what’s going on?
And yet the polls continue to say they’re stable so while having lost 25% of their original “supporters” (though it’s unclear from this article exactly WHAT Sunny is talking about, I’m positing it’s voters rather than supporters…including tacticals) they have clearly gained a significant percentage of “supporters” to balance that drop.
Swings and roundabouts.
And Sunny, you’re still terrible at reporting about polls regarding the Lib Dems.
Albeit I now see that this isn’t a normal Sunny news post, but a shoddily written synopsis for Comres. So apologies there Sunny.
While the LibDems continue to support a Right Wing Thatcherite Government its polls should, and will continue to drop.
As usual the Tories are blaming it on the poor. With high unemployment that will continue to grow higher were are these people supposed to get jobs. The Bankers that caused this mess are still getting big bonuses. Were is their punishment.
Some say lets have workfare, work for their benefits, but hang on,if I nick a Posh Loads of Money Porsche of a Bank Manager and go for a trip and trash it I will probably get community service. That,s if I get caught due to the reduction in Police. Then Ken Clarke doesn’t want to throw me in Prison. So I get Community Service. What,s That, its a bit like workfare, you work for nothing. What message does this send.Either we are treating the Unemployed like Criminals or the Unemployed youth might say.”Sod this,Lets Nick a Porsche.”
So expect Crime to go up,Expect riots as what happened in Toxteth and Brixton. The youth of today, some at any rate don,t fear the law as we did back then.People did not kick people to death much in the Seventies and Eighties. But it happens to innocent people now.If this lot kick of,I don’t want to be around.
