I dont get it – is calling homosexual when they are not an insult? Theres nothing wrong with it.

This BNP loving nazi bigot right wing troll tory should be ashamed.

Quite funny really.

The video adopts a parody style used by Monty Python and predecessors such as TW3. They mimicked TV presenters like Alan Whicker, throwing in occasional outrageous sentences. To be true to the original form, the word “poof” or “poofter” should be tossed in arbitrarily.

Private Eye has used a similar style for nearly 50 years. Following one fine literary example, Dr Jonathan Miller wrote to PE suggesting that the story might lead to him being struck off. As is common for PE, his response was funnier than the article that provoked it.

I am Gay and regard that supposed satire as an absolute insult.

Is there any wonder that homosexuals get problematic lives when the likes of this arsehole uses their identity for derision?

The EDL are the only group standing up and sating NO to Islamic infiltration in Britain and I applaude them.

This issue is FAR too serious a matter in our country for some leftist twat to use it as a game.

Shame on you, you deluded twat, you need to grow up.

As much of a cliche as it is – making flippant connections between homosexuality and the fashion industry is hardly going out of style in mainstream media – why would it not happen in satire?

In this case, because it’s a tad silly to take the piss out of a group of bigots by using bigoted insults.

I would imagine the makers of the video don’t feel homosexuality is an insult – but use it because of the (possibly biggoted) assumption that the people they are mocking would consider it an insult.

Which we all do to an extent. I don’t tend to think an ability to fight is any kind of measure of a man. But I do enjoy pointing out to national front types that when it comes to a scrap (as their ralies often do) the anti-nazis and communists tend to win.

The sly words from the commentator is clear. By suggesting they are mainly homosexual they are less than “real” men and can be dismissed.

Pathetic homophobic bile.

I agree, and it’s a good way of winding the EDL up (were that necessary). I doubt many EDL members would like being called gay. However, I think it’s a bad call. It undermines any political capital of the video and makes it look like childish jeering.

@8

No, they’re less than “real” men (in fact, less than any kind of decent person) because they are neo-Nazi fascists who think chanting “Allah is a paedo” is a decent way of getting your point across. Oh, and they’re a violent street-gang on par with Mosley’s British Union of Fascists from the 1930s.

@10

Yes, I understand that the EDL are scum. That’s not my point.
It’s the suggestion from the voice over, describing them as “mostly homosexual”.

It’s clearly meant as an insult. “Look at these idiots, probably poofs too,”

@11

Well, as @7 points out, it’s presumably because the EDL would consider “homosexual” as an insult; and to add a further layer as @5 points out because connections between being gay and being in the fashion industry are hardly uncommon. If someone called me a “Tory” I’d be insulted – it’s about context.

Just to clarify a bit: saying that the use of the word “homosexual” in this video is a homophobic slur implies that the whole video is to be taken seriously. Guess what – the clothing that the EDL wear is not, funnily enough, the most offensive thing about them.

Dr.dre headphone can bring you to a lovely music world.
