Ashcroft’s “devastating” attack on Cameron
Lord Ashcroft, who has given the Tories more than £5m, is writing his own version of the inside story on the General Election campaign. And the News of the World has learned the former Conservative Deputy Chairman and Treasurer will slam Mr Cameron.
Friends say he will accuse the Prime Minister of being the worst leader for decades – and will blame him for throwing away a 20 point lead in the Polls.
One told the News of the World: “We may have a Conservative Prime Minister, but Lord Ashcroft believes the election campaign was a disaster and that the blame lies with David Cameron and his coterie of advisers.”
…
A senior Tory close to Lord Ashcroft told the News of the World: “There was a tight circle around David Cameron and George Osborne who made decisions which were totally out of touch with what potential voters wanted to hear.

Pretty sure he’s just gonna have a whinge about poor strategic planning, lack of communication and generally being excluded because of you chaps (rightly) having a whinge at him for being..err..who is he? More of the Levy type ‘devastation’ rather than the Myners, Ainsworth or Balls retrospective change of principle devastation.
When did the etiquette of shutting the chuff up become so unfashionable?
I think this is mischief making by NotW.
Last night I tweeted about this quote from the article:
“Lord Ashcroft is expected to publish the book himself. He owns 25% of Biteback Media, which in turn owns 85% of Biteback Publishing. The book is expected to be published this autumn.”
In my tweet I pointed out that uber-loyal Tory Iain Dale is the MD of Biteback Publishing. Iain replied by saying first
“I am quite happy to publish books critical of Tories or Labour. Lord A’s shareholding is irrelevant to that”
I then pointed out the “self publish” statement and then he replied:
“Well, that story is the first I have heard about such a book anyway. No one has approached me about it. Yet!”
So if Dale has not been asked to publish the book it seems that the NotW is trying to push the agenda. This says more about Murdoch than it does about Ashcroft or Dale. It does not bode well when Murdoch’s most vociferous mouthpiece is already stirring trouble less than 2 months into Cameron’s regime.
So the tory trolls want to censor the messenger. Same as it ever was.
They can’t take criticism. It is why they come on here. Drawn like a moths to the flame. It sends them quite mad. They lose all sense of proportion. It is “my team right or wrong.”
I don’t know what you are complaining about. You are always banging on about ownership. Well people like Ashcroft own your party. They bought it with their own money and you happily took it, so don’t complain when he pulls rank. It is the Tory way after all.
