Women’s charity raises triple Danny Dyer film

by Sunny Hundal

A campaign to match the weekend takings for actor Danny Dyer’s new film has been overwhelmed with donations – reaching 366% of its target.

Dyer’s film ‘Pimp’ made £205 in its opening weekend after just 24 people reportedly watched it.

He was at the centre of a controversy recently when blogger Sarah Ditum exposed a Zoo magazine column in which Dyer suggests cutting an ex’s face.

After news broke of Dyer’s film bombing in the cinema, activist Liam Barrington-Bush wanted to see “how much more generous people are than Dyer is successful.”

So he set up DannyDyerDonate – which has so far raised £750 in one week.

Liam said about the campaign:

There have been countless examples of how technology has enabled social ‘flocking’ to occur. What was simply a few combined hours of @andyvglnt and my time, became something far bigger than either our efforts or our means

All the money goes to Solace Women’s Aid, which aims to help women dealing with domestic violence.

I wonder if people didn’t watch it because it was crap or because Danny Dryer was in it.

I think Revolver Films knew it wouldn’t be doing too well. Cinema release on the May 21st. DVD release on May 24th shows lack of confidence in their own film.

Thankfully the article explains the headline, which rather oddly raised an image of a woman’s charity developing a film starring Danny Dyer in three roles…

I think you need ‘three times’ for ‘triple’ there (they do not mean the same thing).

Still, always nice to see things like this. Restores your faith in human nature (and taste).

I agree with Watchman.

Wow, looks worse than a Guy Ritchie film.

Just as a random question, can a blogger ‘expose’ a column published in a quite widely-read magazine. Surely by definition that is exposed already…

Although suggesting slashing anything is really stupid. The more I here of Mr Dyer the more I see a spoilt teenager with no real grasp on his actions.

Brilliant. Look what they’ve done to avoid the description “straight to DVD”:

“In cinemas May 21″ … “on DVD May 24″!

@6

In Poundshop June 1st?

He has fallen a long long way since Human Traffic. Fortunately interest in such aggressive for the sake of it macho rubbish seems to be dying off at the box office.

‘Severence’ was great though.

Err, I’m struggling to understand the difference

Lame point that got ignored on Pickled Politics days ago ….

Is it not possible that the ”Danny Dyer” persona is actually an Ali G like one, and the joke’s actually on you who took it seriously?

I don’t know either way for sure, but I think it’s a distinct possibility.

There’s a great strip in the latest Viz about Danny Dyer.
