Fake police asks people to take off England shirts

Remember the slew of stories claiming that the police were banning people from wearing England tops? I debunked that here, as others have repeatedly.
Now, the Worksop Guardian reports (via @JonnElledge):
A BOGUS police officer is operating in and around Worksop telling people to remove their England shirts and take down their flags.
A probe was launched after the Guardian revealed that a woman in the town had been asked to take down her England flags by what she thought was a genuine police officer. It has now emerged that someone is posing as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and was in Clumber Park last weekend asking people to remove their England shirts.
Chief Superintendent Dave Wakelin said: “I am aware of last week’s publicity regarding the story that one of my staff members advised a local Worksop resident to remove her flag from her balcony as it was upsetting foreign residents.”
“We are now absolutely certain that these were not bona-fide members of Notts Police, and this, linked to reports that over the weekend similar incidents occurred with people in Clumber Park being told remove their England shirts, leads me to believe that there is someone in our local community intending to cause unease.”
You know, it might make sense to do that if you were a Daily Mail or Daily Express journalist… but I’m sure they’d never do that.

Then you’d be a times eight idiot wouldn’t you.

A large of section of white community will go to any lengths in order to feign persecution. This is simply the logical extension of ‘Muslims ban Tuesday’ and the weak response offered by the left – ‘oh baa baa black sheep, black bin bags, conkers, isn’t a bit of a laugh, look at how stupid they are, they’ll believe anything.’
Well, they’re not stupid, they’re malignant cunts who have successfully built a ‘whingeing and shooting’ hegemony under your noses.
I quite genuinely wonder if it’s a BNP activist.
When I heard about this I thought it was the loathsome EDL or whatever they’re called… althought @1 has got me wondering. I wouldn’t put it past the Hate Mail to manufacture hate and bile.
Fascinating. What the hell are these people up to?
Utterly surreal. Perhaps this is work of an interpretive performance artist that aims to turn stories from the Daily Mail fictionpaper into reality.
It could equally be a Leftist civilian who merely wants to adopt the trappings of state power to coerce the public into doing what he wants.
Until more is known, indeed until we know if this latest report is even true, we simply cannot say.
Here’s another, one of my particular favourites, involving a scumbag photographer intent on provoking racial hatred (there’s a quote from the headmaster of the school the children were appropriated from, basically the school knew nothing about it).

Back in 2003, the Telegraph reported that a school in Tower Hamlets had banned hot-cross buns from its Easter menu, and suggested that they’d been replaced with naan bread. The article even included a picture of some schoolkids tucking into some good, old fashioned hot-cross buns. The trouble was, once the story was investigated further, it turned out to be completely false. The council involved stated that they’d never actually served hot-cross buns at Easter, so the idea that they’d been banned was totally specious. Who knows where they got the naan bread idea from. The picture had been achieved by the photographer nipping up the road to buy some from a bakery.
By the time this was discovered, the story had been covered by other papers and columnists, reported as true. These papers, as well as the Telegraph, had to issue apologies retracting the story, but it had already taken its place in the great ‘PC gone mad’ mythology, along with the idea that nobody’s allowed to ask for black coffee and that manholes have to be called ‘person-holes’.
You can still read the story on the Telegraph website, and there’s no mention on the page that it has been retracted, no mention that it wasn’t true, and no link to the apology, which you can only see on the site if you know where to look, or open one of the search results for ‘hot cross buns’ that doesn’t actually mention hot cross buns until you click the link.

There’s a Reid/Jenvey behind every one of these stories, just remember that.
I heard it was Theo Walcott who insisted the offending flags be taken down?
Re Hot Cross Buns. I had someone tell me a couple of years back that a school had banned them; evidently the news that the school hadn’t banned anything completely escaped him. But even if the retraction had been in very big letters on the home page of the newspaper (or page one of the printed copy) there would be some who would still believe it. As a survey has recently shown.
I think a lot of these PC-gone mad stories were originally fabricated by people with malicious intent, then a few genuine souls take up the idea really believing that Baa Baa Black Sheep is offensive to black people (the two o’clock club on Highbury Fields banned it) and that black bin bags are very offensive (for GOODNESS SAKES!!!).
And yes, I blame the BNP, or perhaps the EDL though I doubt they are that organised…
If you haven’t noticed this country is not short of nutcases. You don’t need to see a conspiracy behind the actions of each and every one of them.
Anyway, if this does turn out to be a tabloid stunt, wouldn’t the reporter be liable for imitating a policeman?
Anyway, if this does turn out to be a tabloid stunt, wouldn’t the reporter be liable for imitating a policeman?
FWIW I’m not personally suggesting this person going round is directly from any tabloids, it’s not beyond the realms but I doubt it. As you suggest it’ll just be some mentalist like this cuntsock from last week – http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1281019/Driver-orders-toddler-bus-wearing-offensive-England-football-shirt.html
Another vague possibility is that a police officer did in fact do it and they’re trying to deflect, sort of like that escaped prisoner/kfc incident where the police blamed their unpopular act on ‘yuman rites’.
(FWIW the article says PCSO, the law might be different with regards to impersonating one of them, IMO it’s inciting racial hatred anyway.)
Knowing Worksop well, this doesn’t surpise me. Stuff like this happens all the time in that town. Bunch of weirdo’s the lot of ’em!
I’ll piss myself if this ends up on one of those Trigger Happy / FaceJacker type shows.
My dad maintains to this day they Birmingham cancelled Christmas in favour of “Winterval” one year, and nothing will ever dissuade him from this fact. Once people have an idea in their heads…
What about the Sun’s “banning” of the Red Arrows from the opening ceremony of 2012. Over 500,0000 people signed a petition against that after a follow up email campaign!!
@14
Well, Brum council did use Winterval for festivities (see here for details), but it was intended to be inclusive of Christmas not at the detriment of it.
It could equally be a Leftist civilian who merely wants to adopt the trappings of state power to coerce the public into doing what he wants.
Why ? There is no logic to your argument. A leftist would more likely want to be the recipient of thugs of right wing power. Remember you are in charge now.
Watchman is right it is probably tabloid stunt gone wrong.
Conservative media lie a lot. So I would not put it past them to dress someone up as a policeman and do this.
I think the best possible response to this would be uninformed speculation and paranoia.
If the CPS can’t get a conviction on ‘wouldn’t put it past them’ I’m going to give up my faith in British justice.
@11, that wasn’t a cuntsock bus driver, it was a deranged lying passenger. When First Bus investigated, they found it didn’t happen (there were no E European bus drivers on that route at anything resembling the right time) – either the DM or Ms Fardon made it up.
Errrm, yeah I know, that was my point.
The woman is a serial liar, who’s been caught doing this before, apparently.
“Anyway, if this does turn out to be a tabloid stunt, wouldn’t the reporter be liable for imitating a policeman?”
Not really, in Notts? The official article is already doing that.
