I saw this about a week ago and it has since then racked up over a quarter of a million views purely through word of mouth.
Surely it is the best attack video of the election? Labour should have had this as their Party Election Broadcast.
It also points to one simple point: that George Osborne remains the Conservatives’ most high profile public liability.

Sunny, you’re an idiot.
It’s not simply a class war video, but it’s also not simply an anti-Tory one. Remember what happened when Gordon met one of the common people the other day? Clegg also delivers his policy arguments from a macro-cultural, rather than local, perspective. None of them appear to directly address voter concerns, but instead try to divine an economic outcome that will naturally result in that concern being addressed.
I’m quite interested in discussions of economics and philosophy, so I’m comfortable hearing the party leaders arguing along those lines. I’m in a tiny minority though, and I’m sure people would rather have policies they can understand without having to devour Smith, then Keynes, then Friedman etc.
It would also benefit political commentary, as dudes like Guido would have to try a bit harder to transpose half-read, quarter-remembered Hayek into his arguments in favour of tory stuff.
It’s quite funny but only preaching to the choir.
So at the same time wholly ineffective.
The polling evidence is that when we attack our political opponents (and I accept that I am one of your political opponents), then we lose the interest of voters.
Yes, this will go down well with people who are opposed to the Conservatives – but that’s it.
So, from my perspective, I’d be delighted if you used it; I rather suspect that wiser heads on your side of the political divide will decide against it.

The significant difference with the Conservative Party front benchers in this election, is that two out of the last three previous Conservative PMs, Heath and Thatcher, went to their respective local grammar schools and from there to Oxford.
Admittedly John Major, whose parents were musical hall artists, went to a fee-paying school – King’s College, Wimbledon – but he compensated for that by leaving school with only one O-Level. The home of the Major family was in Brixton, Lambeth:

Didn’t the BBCs wriggly thing go down when Mr Cameron attacked Mr Clegg? Kind of proves the point that Evan was making. Yes Mr Cameron won on all but one opinion poll (or all if you count a draw as a joint victory) but that was on his positive message, not his attacks. And Mr Brown, who was most aggressive, did most badly.
Sunny, are you refering to how Martin Coxall put on a mask, punched two women, then got arrested?

I was and no thank you, but I appreciate the sneer in your comment which, to be honest, isn’t worthy – and the times when David Cameron and Gordon Brown were least effective according to the ‘worm’ was when they attacked each other …
But that is different from a PEB – where if all we do is attack our opponents, particularly if we spend our time misrepresenting the argument that the other is making, then we really don’t get anyone listening to us.
Sadly, I think the lesson of this election is that the political classes (and to some extent I include myself in this) have forgotten who they are addressing – and the press doesn’t care!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with attacking your opponents when you are actually debating with them, it’s just part of the cut and thrust. As long as you don’t do it to the exclusion of putting your awn argument across.
Where Brown lost it for me though was in his closing statement when he went in the attack rather than, as Cameron and Clegg had done, concentrating on putting across a positive message about why people should want to vote for him.
Oh, and negative PPBs are dfinitely a no no for me.
