Is the Indy about to endorse the Libdems?
I tweeted earlier today that the Libdems should ideally be looking to get endorsements from the Guardian (somewhat unlikely) and the Indy.
A contact at the newspaper soon emailed me to say that editors at the Indy have already been in discussion about endorsing the Libdems and may end up making an announcement very soon.
This wouldn’t be surprising since the Independent endorsed the Libdems in 2005, principally over the Iraq war.
It would obviously be another piece of good news for the Libdems and carry on their positive news cycle.
But if the Indy does indeed endorse now, it could be a good publicity coup for them as the broadcasters are likely to pick it up as part of their ongoing coverage of the ‘resurgent Libdems’.

They might, you never know. Of course they were saying rather nice things about the Greens on Friday.
In the 1989 European elections, the party won an astonishing 15 per cent of the national vote. Two Brussels seats followed in 1999. And on 6 May Caroline Lucas has a strong chance of becoming the Greens’ first representative in the Westminster parliament, as the party’s leader contests the constituency of Brighton Pavilion.
So it took them 10 years between 1989 and 1999 to convert that 15% into… 2 MEPs? And 11 years since 1999 to convert those 2 MEPs into… possibly having 1 MP?
Pull the other one, Jim Jepps.
Indy and Guardian have always been lib dem in content.
So no surprise.
The 0bserver with Cohen is a Tory trojan horse.
A complete piece of shit.
While were on the subject
Private Eye has always been right wing but there was vein of mischief aimed at the right, as well as the left.
Unfortunately under Hislop it is now just a Viz version of the Sun.
Also ratbiter (Cohen) and others such as Wheen just the rag as a platform for personal attacks.
Democracy eh !
The greens won two seats in the 1999 EU elections because they were the first were UK MEPs were elected by proportional representation

I think you are being unfair to Private Eye, it’s always taken the piss out of charlatans and buffoons of both left and right. That’s part of its charm.
Mr P
I would have agreed with you but over the last year it’s satire has one specific purpose, to get the Tories in
