Could you tell me when Brown was running the American economy? If you could provide dates as to when he was jumping on an aeroplane and going to the US to run Lehman’s and AIG, and all the other American banks that have gone tits up. Also, could you give the dates as to when he was running the Irish economy and the Iceland banking system, just so that we can see all the booms he created.

Or maybe you would like to tell us about how Cameron was saying we should deregulate are banking system evem more than Brown did. Which ws the tory position in the boom.

Funny then, how few free-market economists pointed out Brown’s failings in the Years of Plenty; indeed the Right-wing used to say that despite Labour policy on just about anything, Brown was a good chancellor. The Left usually said otherwise – for Brown was following Conservative (or neo-Liberal/Thatcherite) policy. And I don’t remember anyone seeing the recession coming – with the exception of uberMarxists who see the collapse of capitalism around every corner (and Nassim Taleb, admittedly in the context of his superb treatise The Black Swan).
