[6] One of the questions I like to ask Tories who say that (most have more sense) is, which of the following post-Labour scenarios do you find most attractive?

(1) England becomes effectively a one-party country, with the Tories regularly achieving 60%+ of the vote, with no other party breaking the 20% barrier other than occasionally;

(2) A Lib Dem opposition capable of forming a government;

(3) A populist opposition formed out of UKIP/BNP support (if not leading lights) likewise.

Put another way, which is your second choice of party, if any?

. I used to be member of the Labour Party in one of the potteries CLPs, next to Stoke, and I was profoundly grateful that I didn't live in Stoke. There aren't many members in any case, and the whole Stoke Labour party always struck me as batshit crazy.

Not necessarily. I heard last night there will be an open selection. The NEC knows that anything else could lead to the disintegration of the party in Stoke.

The suspension of Stoke Central CLP means that the NEC will impose a candidate.
