Tories waste money on ‘cuts’ ads that don’t work
Worried about the narrative that the Conservatives were in chaos over their commitments to cutting spending, they have launched a web campaign to hit back.
But the campaign doesn’t work properly and may have wasted thousands of pounds already.
CCHQ has launched a website called ‘Labour Chaos on Cuts‘, which highlights conflicting quotes by Cabinet ministers on spending commitments.
Curiously they failed to clarify their own position on how much they planned to cut spending and wreck Britain’s nascent economic recovery.
Along with a website and a quick video filmed with Boy George (which has had a massive 247 views), they also launched a Google Adwords campaign.
Anyone searching Google for “spending cuts” will see a Google ad leading to the website.

Except, when you click on the link, the page comes up blank.
Ooops! Who’s going to pay for the hundreds, possibly thousands of pounds wasted?
Snap! Left Foot Forward also notice Tory web failure.
Update By about 5:30pm the Tories had sorted out their technical error.
Libdems have joined the fray with a statement by Vince Cable:
Labour and the Tories are accusing each other of being confused and contradictory on the economy, and they’re both right. The fact that they insist on this political bun fight shows they have failed to understand that the British public and the markets want a clear picture of what the next Government will do.
The Liberal Democrats are the only party that has had a consistent approach.
We’ve been very open about the scale of cuts required and setting out where our priorities would be, while recognising that the timing must be decided by the strength of the economy. That is why we have set out five tests for when and how we start to cut.

You should encourage as many people as possible to click the link. As every time someone clicks on the link the Tory party have to pay Google. That is unless the connections they have with Google allow them free advertising.
Now they have something called Mandelson Spin Backfires.
Can spin backfire? I though only cars did that.
Same stuff as before I suspect:
Treasury Ministers say there will be “extremely painful” cuts under Labour, but Gordon Brown says spending will carry on rising.
Treasury figures already imply 17% cuts in non-protected departments under Labour, but Gordon Brown keeps adding new protected areas without saying where the money is coming from.
The National Audit Office say that Labour’s defence plans are already “unaffordable”, and Bob Ainsworth has announced defence cuts, but today Gordon Brown is promising more spending on defence. If Labour are now protecting defence spending then cuts in other departments will be more than 20%.
Ed Balls says education spending will carry on rising, but Alistair Darling claims he has only protected “front line” schools spending.
Peter Mandelson says you can’t make cuts this year but is cutting more than £300 million from his own Department this year.
Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown disagree over what to do if growth is stronger than expected – Darling says he wants to cut the deficit but Brown says he wants more spending.
Amazing. Some of this is even true.
Sorry, most of the 247 ‘views’ were prob me, will they cost them £123.50p? Only another few million to go . . .
Btw I am concerned about safety in young George’s office. Those trailing wires must be a hazard to anyone whose contribution to the Tories’ confusion over their ass and elbow self evidently is . . . erm . . unhelpful.
Is it just me, or does that link work? Takes me straight to a ‘Labour chaos on cuts’ page.
Ah well, all publicity is good publicity.
Would someone remind me again how wasteful government spending supports the economy rather than weighing it down?

Well we're not going to cut the web ads that don't work http://bit.ly/aiHDOU That would be a waste of time and money!
