So, if you go to some of the viral sections on the Sun’s website, showing a pic which The Sun has absolutely no claim to, e.g. http://bit.ly/ZXo0c
and want to save a picture by right clicking on one, you get a message saying:
“Copyright 2008 News Group Newspapers Ltd and/or its licensors. No use without permission. Contact enquiries@nisyndication.com”

If Murdoch thinks he can pick a fight with Google, he’s daft. Google:

1. is bigger than News Corp — its market capitalisation is 5.5 times as much

2. is not hated my wide sections of the population, particularly the better-educated sections

3. understands the internet. Unlike Murdoch.

As is occasionally pointed out when journalists and news business people complain that Google is stealing their content, if they don’t want Google to index their pages they can simply… tell Google not to index their pages by inserting a bit of code into them.

What they really want Google to do is pay them for the privilege of making money from a derivative of their product, the way book reviewers always pay novelists, for example.
