20 questions we should ask the BNP

The Guardian is reporting that the BNP is going to face more problems tomorrow when a website publishes its membership list again. Of course, I can only observe internal in-fighting and trouble at the BNP with glee.

I disagree with Peter Hain’s objection to the BNP appearing on Question Time tomorrow Thursday because it’s too late and just looks like an attempt at censorship. The BBC has been toying with giving the BNP primetime slots for quite a while and keep making excuses for their journalists’ sloppy questioning: so in one sense this is no worse than what has already happened.

Tomorrow night I’ll be running a live debate here and posting on Twitter during QT. I feel Nick Griffin will do well. But to help the others, and as a reference point for journalists in the future, I’ve prepared a list of 20 questions aimed at the BNP.

This was first posted on Guardian CIF today.

* * * * * * * * *
1. Which parts of Hitler’s book Mein Kampf does Nick Griffin agree with, considering that he is on record as stating that he has “learned a lot” from it ?

2. Specifically which policies and ideology of the historical German Nazi party does the BNP as a whole renounce or support, considering the confirmed admiration for Hitler and his organisation among several senior members of the BNP?

3. What is the BNP’s official position on the Holocaust, given Griffin’s claim that “I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that 6 million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades.” Does he not believe the 6 million figure?

4. Griffin has been pictured with and rubbed shoulders several times with high-ranking members of the American Ku Klux Klan. Does he agree with their vision of Aryan supremacy? Would he renounce their policies and ideology?

5. Would Griffin, Andrew Brons and all other members of the BNP be willing to submit to multiple independent DNA tests to confirm that none of them have any non-European ancestry?

6. How will a BNP government ensure the safety of Britain’s female population, considering that a senior member of the BNP (Nick Eriksen) has been on record as stating that he believes “rape is simply sex. Women enjoy sex, so rape cannot be such a terrible physical ordeal.”

7. Does Griffin agree with the senior member of the BNP who is on record as stating that he supports forced euthanasia of people with disabilities and others deemed to be “a waste of time, money and resources”, including the very old and (especially) newborn babies?

8. Griffin said previously that he believed white and black people could not live together. Is he still against mixed-race relationships? How will he stop people from having them?

9. What would be the status of British citizens (both minors and legal adults) who are the children of one white/Caucasian parent and one non-white parent?

10. The BNP’s constitution says that it wishes to restore “the overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948″. Does that still remain his aim?

11. Does he still believe in voluntary repatriation of ethnic minorities in the UK? What if they don’t want to move to another country?

12. Should ethnic minority Britons have any lesser rights or legal status than white Britons? Given the choice between a white Briton and a non-white Briton for a job – would you choose the white Briton because of their race?

13. Non-white Britons represent Britain internationally in sporting events and academia and in other fields all the time. Yet you say these people are not “British”. Would you deny them the chance to represent the UK?

14. Would you be OK with a mixed-race or non-white Briton being prime minister of Britain?

15. Do you think white people are genetically more intelligent than black people?

16. During an interview in May 2009, Griffin clearly stated that he would use the current Saudi Arabian policy on non-Islamic places of worship as a guideline for official policies towards non-Christian places of worship under a BNP government, thereby effectively turning Britain into a Christian version of Saudi Arabia. Is that still the case?

17. Does he have any problems with Christians converting to any other religion?

18. Will the BNP’s proposed policies in relation to non-white British citizens also be applicable to Jewish British citizens? If the answer is “Yes”, then all further queries in relation to non-white British citizens should be interpreted to also include Jewish British citizens.

19. During its various references to Britain’s historical participation in the first and second world wars, why does the BNP never mention the fact that millions of non-white soldiers from the former British Empire fought alongside white/Caucasian soldiers on the side of the Allied powers in both world wars, including 2.5 million volunteer soldiers from the Indian subcontinent during the second world war?

20. How will a BNP government ensure the safety and welfare of Britain’s disabled, considering that a senior member of the BNP (Jeffrey Marshall) has been on record as stating that “We live in a country today which is unhealthily dominated by an excess of sentimentality towards the weak and unproductive. No good will come of it”, in response to the death of David Cameron’s baby in spring 2009?

Good list.

Shame none of these questions will be posed to Griffin on QT.

I have another question to add:

21: Does Nick Griffin stand by his claim that the BNP is no different to the National Black Police Association, even though the BNP (government pressure through the courts pending) currently excludes non-whites, whereas anybody can join the NBPA And whereas the BNP think that non-whites should not be accorded equal rights in the UK, the NBPA is in favour of equal rights for all.

I add this question because I am willing to bet money that on Thursday Griffin will play the “we’re just like the NBPA” card.

Good CIF piece

Thought Nick Cohen’s Observer focus piece on Sunday was pretty good, and one of the better pieces of msm coverage recently
http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/oct/18/nick-griffin-question-time-bbc

It was also good to see what I think is perhaps the single most telling New Griffin quote, from his speaker meeting in the US with David Duke and KKK sympathisers, in a national newspaper

“There’s a difference between selling out your ideas and selling your ideas. The British National Party isn’t about selling out its ideas – which are your ideas too – but we are determined now to sell them. That means to use saleable words, basically …freedom, security, identity, democracy. Nobody can criticise them. Nobody can come at you and attack you on those ideas.

They are saleable. Perhaps one day by being rather more subtle we have got ourselves in a position where we control the British Broadcasting media, then perhaps one day the British people will change their minds, and say that every last one of them must go. Perhaps they will one day.

But if you hold that out as your sole aim to start with, you’re going to get absolutely nowhere. So, instead of talking about racial purity we talk about identity.”

The YouTube video of him saying this is here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04QolIvfQEw

erm… Sunny. QT is on Thursday. Today’s Monday. So it’s not tomorrow.

I think your question about genetic testing is misguided. I think you are probably overestimating what genetic testing can establish, and it is a question that might well play into Griffin’s hands.

I might be getting this wrong, but as far as I’m aware, genetic “race” — in quotes because there isn’t really any such thing as genetic race — can only show inheritance from the male line (y-dna) and female line (mtdna). What that means is father’s father’s father etc, and mother’s mother’s mother. It thus excludes the vast majority of your ancestors – mother’s father’s parents and their parents etc, father’s mother’s parents and their parents etc. Thus, if Griffins granny’s grandfather was a Jew, and his grandfather’s granny was an African, there is no test that will show that.

Nobody rational is going to regard genetic testing as relevant to determining someone’s race, but fascism is an inherently irrational ideology, and it is just the thing that might appeal to Griffin. Ask him to prove his racial purity and he might jump at the chance.

Most importantly, you appear to be conceding that race is a question of genetics. It isn’t of course, and I’m sure you agree.

If asked those questions Griffin would just try and sound reasonable and perhaps even lie about his own opinions. The man has clearly had media training, he’s not going to start goose-stepping around.

6. The Grim Reaper

Saraherm said “Sunny, QT is on Thursday. Today’s Monday. So it’s not tomorrow.”

This Sunny Hundal epic fail was brought to you by Liberal Conspiracy.

Nonetheless, an excellent list of questions there. Methinks that Griffin wouldn’t be able to answer a single one.

“Nonetheless, an excellent list of questions there. Methinks that Griffin wouldn’t be able to answer a single one.”

10 and 11 were asked by Adam Boulton, he answered them. Mention Hitler and he’ll talk about how his Dad was an RAF pilot in WWII. He’s even said he accepts the 6 million figure (Boulton interview again). He’ll deny he believes in racial supremacy even if he secretly does. He’ll say he won’t object to non-white Britons representing Britain in sporting events.

My point is that it won’t be hard for him to answer some of these questions.

During WW2 many Britons and those who fought with the British were murdered and tortured by the Nazis, this includes the following:-
1. 80 members of the Warwickshire Regiment were executed just before the fall of Dunkirk.
2. Hitler ordered sailors of the merchant navy to be executed if they survived sinking of their vessels.
3. Hitler passed the “Commando Order” which meant that members of the Parachute Regiment, Commandos, SAS and SBS executed if caught. Members of the SAS caught after D Day were executed as were many survivors of Commando and Airborne raids.
4. Members of the Special Operations Executive were tortured and executed. Female SOE members tortured and executed include Violette Szabo GC and Noor Inayat Khan GC while Odette Sansom Hallows GC was tortured and survived the War. A description of the torture and conditions endured by captured SOE members can be found in the book ” White Rabbit ” which tells the story of Wing Commander Yeo Thomas GC, MC.
5. British prisoners on the Death Marches at the end of the War were executed if they collapsed.

Does the BNP support the torture and execution of British prisoners of war during WW2? The BNP cannot claim to support British values if they support the Nazi regime which tortured and murdered so many Britons and those who fought with the British.

The BNP have published their ‘policies’, and each one presents itself as a prime candidate for demolition.
In a nutshell:-
foreign policy – isolationist
education – 3 Rs and corporal punishment
employment – women stop working and return to the home
armed forces – withdraw from abroad to police our borders
immigration – repatriation
and so on.

I can think of quite a few questions for Jack Straw. I would like to ask him how it feels to have blood on his hands as he has consistently voted for war in Iraq. I’d like to ask him why he supported attempts to increase the number of days someone could be held without trial and why he wants us to be forced to carry ID cards. I would also like to ask him why he tried to block examination of the expenses of MPs. QT is not about grilling one panelist, however.

The many questions posed for Nick Griffin do show that there is a public appetite to get answers from him. In fact framing these questions has been a popular activity on Blogs! That is one reason why I think the attempts by Labour Ministers to bully the BBC are misguided. The voters are the arbiter of what is acceptable and desirable in the final analysis. Let’s seek to ensure that they get full information on which to make their choices.

11. Blacker Than Thou

@ Paul Sagar (2)

Now the BNP has changed its constitution, look forward to seeing a new definition of the word ‘white’.

The NBPA has a pretty nonsensical definition of ‘black’, with the result that its major case in the last 3 years has involved Ali Dizai, a man who is not black by any rational standards. You also still find the odd Asian throwback in academia or social work who defines themself as black (despite the fact that no black person would ever classify an Asian as black).

So there will probably be a trickle of non-white applicants to join the BNP, who self-define as ‘white’ no matter how nonsensical it looks to ordinary people.

12. Donut Hinge Party

As you have to ask the same question to all panellists

“Do you see your views as primarily left wing, right wing, centrist, or do you feel that these labels have no meaning any more?”

“What do the panel think defines Britishness, ethnic or civil?”

That’ll shut some people up – although I had to move from the political to get Bonnie Greer involved.

One more:

in the wake of what those two BNP pricks interviewed on BBC Radio said last week: do you think Ashley Cole is less British than, say, Wayne Rooney?

3. What is the BNP’s official position on the Holocaust, given Griffin’s claim that “I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that 6 million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades.” Does he not believe the 6 million figure?

Hmmmm… A cunning and technically correct bit of weaselling there. Of course it’s not true that “6 million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades”. It’s not even true that “6 million Jews were gassed“. But it is true that approximately 6 million Jews (along with another 3-6 million assorted others) were systematically done away with in one way or another. As to what constitutes “the orthodox opinion”, I guess that’s debatable…

Sneaky bastard.

From BBC’s Analysis last month:-

http://www.kenanmalik.com/tv/analysis_bnp.html

KENAN MALIK So was it a different Nick Griffin that said in court about the Holocaust ten years ago that ‘it is a mixture of allied wartime propaganda, extremely profitable lie, and, later, witch hysteria’?

NICK GRIFFIN I never said that in court. That was in a leaflet. I haven’t got any kind of conviction for Holocaust denial. I’ve never denied the Holocaust. I used to say it was exaggerated by Gentile leftists to stop sensible discussion of immigration, but quite simply that’s in the last century. Jews in Britain now are the victims and potentially the victims of Islam even more than the rest of us and it’s time for us to stand together.

KENAN MALIK Well let me quote what you actually said. ‘I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that six million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades. Orthodox opinion also once held that the earth was flat. I have reached a conclusion that the extermination tale is a mixture of allied wartime propaganda, extremely profitable lie, and, later, witch hysteria’.

NICK GRIFFIN I’ve changed my mind on some of those points, but I cannot talk about these. I can’t tell you what I used to believe, why I’ve changed my mind on some things, and what I believe now. I’m not allowed to by European law.

KENAN MALIK I’m not sure which European law prevents Nick Griffin from revealing his true views about the Holocaust, though it’s a highly convenient one for him. It’s perhaps symptomatic of the new BNP that not only should Nick Griffin be coy about his views, but that he should blame European law for his inability to come clean.

Now that’s clever of Griffin. He’s lying through his teeth – he’s as much an anti-Semite as he ever was – but he can try and co-opt Jews against Muslims and throw suspicion against the rule from Brussels. Islamism & the European Union aren’t popular with a big chunk of the population. Also, if you said to anyone that Griffin lies, they ‘d probably shrug and say all politicians lie. He’s a cunning little shit.

Fact – BNP would like to deport all non-whites whether British or not, back to their perceived racial continent or country of origin.

Should the indigenous Americans, Australians, and South Africans do the same?

17. organic cheeseboard

Nick Cohen’s Observer focus piece on Sunday was pretty good, and one of the better pieces of msm coverage recently

bits of it were good, but it included Cohen’s fawning embrace of Douglas Murray, who Cohen seems to think is a principled opponent of the BNP – but Murray actually agrees with Griffin on the subject of muslims – in fact Murray is in record saying that all immigration into Britain from muslim countries must stop. Why the hell did cohen ever think he’d mke a good opponent to Griffin?

This is what is so utterly frustrating about Cohen – he makes some very good points but then spoils it all by bigging these people himself. But hey, if they’ll give you a good quote (as Murray did)…

Sunny – good blog. And good list of questions. Let’s see how many David Dimbleby poses on Thursday night. One question I would add is this:

Nick Griffin – you have said that Islam is a “cancer” and we need to use “chemotherapy” against its spread in Europe: how will that translate into practical policy measures? Mass detention? Concentration camps? Compulsory repatriation? Demolishing mosques?

19. Harry Wiliams

Bukenya – get the facts right before you put a post on this site and show what an ignoramus you are. This Labour government is already repatriating immigrants with cash bribes of approximately £3,000. The trouble is that these deportees are coming back and getting another handout. I don’t know how you feel about that Bukenya but that is coming out of your taxes and if you have the intelligence? to put two and two together you may add up that it will act as a magnet to other immigrants. I would suggest you do a little research on the BNP as your knowledge is somewhat lacking (probably because you have had an education under Nu-Labour or have been brainwashed) the BNP have never said that they would kick out all the ethnics in this country – they realise that this country would collapse if that ever happened. My daughter-in-law is from Mauritius and an ex-girlfriend of mine for six years and is still the best friend that I have ever had is BLACK – I don’t know what shade of black you prefer Bukenya but she is very black. I would like some proof of the fact that you quote.

Instead of wasting time debating fascists, who by definition are anti-democratic, I would ask the democratic politicians on the QT panel the following:

1 Given that the BNP’s policies and operations are illegal, why are they allowed the legitimacy of political party status?

2. What have Peter Hain and other parliamentary and political critics of the BBC’s decision to have Griffin on QT done to end this anomaly?

3. Would parliament or any political party allow the existence of a political party advocating adults having sex with children? If not, why not? If the reasons include the fact that such activity is unlawful, what is the difference between such a party and the BNP, a disproportionate number of whose victims are children and young people?

4. What, if anything, have British politicians learnt from the rise and influence of far-right politicians and parties in Austria, France, Italy and the Netherlands? If any lessons have been learnt, how have these been applied?

5. Do democratic politicians and parties believe it is legitimate to displace responsibility for confronting illegal and anti-democratic organisations to media organisations?
