Iain Dale and Guido Fawkes: hypocrites

Yeah, we fell for the spoof on the Mayor of Baltimore, as did many others including The Spectator, the Guardian and Baltimore Sun – people who are paid to do more research, you know? And I updated the page as soon as I heard about it, as should be the practice.

But now Iain Dale has gone off on a bizarre rant about churnalism and being caught out on spoofs.

Let’s get this straight. Iain Dale has never been caught out on a spoof has he? Really?

Iain Dale and Guido Fawkes have never taken a press release and regurgitated it as a blog post. Like this or this, for example. No, they’re far too professional to do that. Hypocrites.
Update: And Fawkes always checks his sources too right? (thanks Carl)

Oh, get over it.

I fell for the Nationwide spaghetti tree spoof in the 70’s.

2. Shatterface

(I was 4 years old)

I fell for Labour’s 1997 manifesto. /badoomTISH/

The only thing to do is laugh it off you silly sod.

I find it quite funny that Iain Dale was basically accusing LC being hypocritical and LC’s response is “but Iain is a hypocrite TOO!”

I hope Iain now responds to this one with “Sunny calling me a hypocrite is so hypocritical” so that we can continue this game forever.

Laugh it off yes but I think the idea of exposing their rank hypocirsy is a good one, just whatever you do Sunny STOP LOOKING AT THEIR SHIT BLOGS, you’ll get mind AIDS.

The correct response to making a tit of yourself is a self-depricating ‘DOH!’ before moving swiftly on – while plotting to get your own back at a later date!

Isn’t Sunny’s getting his own back this post?

Chillax.

Now that is funny.

so that we can continue this game forever.

Heh.
what would be the point of blogging if not for the occasional flame-wars? You want de-construction of policy whole day long?

Personally, flame is where it is at.

I remember quite fondly when Guido got well and truly “punked” over an anon email saying James Purnell was going to stand as MP. Hypocrite.

…just whatever you do Sunny STOP LOOKING AT THEIR SHIT BLOGS, you’ll get mind AIDS.

Good advice. Take it, dude.

“Actually, that makes sense. Looking back on the fake statement, it was far too articulate to have been written by Dixon or anyone on her staff.”

Not sure what is hypocritical about extracting something from a press release with attribution. We all do that, you included. That is why people send press releases.

I am laughing at you for falling for the prank, for getting all high and mighty when I hinted about it this morning (and still not getting it). Doh!

We laughed at you when you got punked too Staines, don’t worry. Happens to the best of us eh?

Seems like Sunny has an extremely bad case of sour grapes

[1] Oh, get over it – I fell for the Nationwide spaghetti tree spoof in the 70’s.

Indeed, Shatterface, I received a right spanking (on LC) after linking to a health item that also proved to be a hoax.

I can honestly say, I’m a better person for it.

Press and research assistant required contact Dr John Pugh, Liberal Democrat MP for Southport…

Wire me

Dale is becoming a right little titty ass whiner. But then nobody whines more than the Right if they can’t have their way.

It amazes me that the MSM take him seriously. He is a just a stenographer for the Conservative party. Which is what Guido has become.

23. Shatterface

Sunny, can you pass me the tartan paint?

What makes it doubly amusing is that even if the Mayor HAD made this statement, it would still be drivel.

The quote compares the murder rate of a real city, with real drug problems, with a mildly diverting bit of Sunday night ITV whimsy.

You might as well compare the Lockerbie bombing with the Beckindale (nee Emmerdale) aircrash.

And even if the body count in The Wire is higher than in reality, that would make Hannan’s claim that cities in the UK are like Baltimore MORE true, not less.

But Sunny, what do you think about Dan Hannan?

Who?

“what would be the point of blogging if not for the occasional flame-wars? You want de-construction of policy whole day long?”

Agree wholeheartedly. Nothing I like more than a slanging match.I love it

The same sentiment just comes across as a little incongruous from the sort of person who’d write…

“We have a tight comments policy aimed at fostering constructive debate.”

“Abusive, sarcastic or silly comments may be deleted.”

Oh the joys of the relativist mindset…

“Troll, moi? No I’m just engaged in a flame-war. I’m a “flame soldier”…I’m the Generalissimo of the flame army cos I’ve got fire proof jacket with a comment policy embroidered on the back.”

Still, incongruity is the spice of life…so go for it

Sunny H…Paul Staines: Napalm at Dawn…do us all a favour and hold your duel on Blackheath…maybe the collateral damage might take out a few eco-moralisers or even chargrill a few stray aubergines (lovely with a spot of fairtrade humous)

The same sentiment just comes across as a little incongruous from the sort of person who’d write…

Flame wars don’t need to involve bad language (though admittedly I used a few bad words on Iain Dale’s post, which he is now moralising about. Apparently he never swears). Thank you for pointing that out though. Very helpful.

Sunny H…Paul Staines: Napalm at Dawn…do us all a favour and hold your duel on Blackheath

You see. The last time I met Paul Staines like that, he went back on his word and then threatened to get lawyers involved. In fact he likes getting lawyers involved despite his apparent commitment to free speech. So that napalm would be sadly wasted.

It’s a pity the Baltimore response was a spoof because it was very funny.

I suppose what should have given the game away is that politicians are very rarely that humorous (intentionally).

Actually Iain Dale wins this war because his whole blog is a spoof of a Tory website. He’s going to reveal it one day and we’ll all be kicking ourselves!

@30 WIN.

Forgrt the swearing, what I’ll be taking away from this is the memory of the extreme homophobic remarks aimed at Guido Fawkes earlier, but now hidden by Sunny. That was quite extraordinary, as was the use of words like ‘hag’ and ‘crone’ to describe a female poster.

I prefer deconstruction of policy all day long.

TROLL “Forgrt the swearing, what I’ll be taking away from this is……….. ”

Nobody gives a toss what you take away from anything on here.

“Nobody gives a toss what you take away from anything on here.”

You weren’t taught good manners at home were you?

“You weren’t taught good manners at home were you?”

Bit po-faced and humourless, isn’t it?

“Bit po-faced and humourless, isn’t it?”

Apologies if it came across that way, it was more of an attempt at dry humour. Sally has a track record of telling people nobody gives a toss what they have to say (in fact I swear she’s a Tory troll) so my responses to her should be taken about as seriously as I take her.

38. the a&e charge nurse

Shatterface proves that you can read whatever you like into a ‘policy’.

The LC ‘policy’ on abusive comments is riddled with inconsistencies and personal prejudice – a bit like the real world, I guess?

@Shatterface:

What homophobic remarks? I never saw those in my inbox? I saw remarks calling him out as a drink driving offender but not anything related to his sexuality, which considering Guido is a key offender in using gay as a pejorative and also making the awful connection between child molester and homosexual man, strikes me as odd.

And I’m not sure what you point is re: the use of hag and crone, first off it was JuliaM we’re talking about and second off they got deleted?

What’s your beef or are you just whinging?
