Damn it that’s not what I said! I started off saying that encouraging infiltrating of the BNP is not a good idea; I would guess there are state informers galore embedded there already.

I went on to say that crossovers between the far right and the far left are well documented; after the Berlin Wall came down, one German journalist watched East German militia laughing as a Vietnamese guy was beaten up by skinheads. The militia, he observed, were communist just a few weeks before; during WWII they would have been Nazi, and in the 20s they would have moved effortlessly between Nazi and Communist parties.

Further to that, we are only 15 years distant from the Rwandan genocide. What happened in Germany/Austria and separately in the Soviet Union was state orchestrated, methodical and targeted. What happened in Rwanda was manipulated but was largely implemented by mass action, not state bodies.

To me, the Rwandan genocide is more disturbing (and I don’t write that lightly). There is something about citizens butchering neighbours with a machete or burning them in a church that feels more threatening than death camps. Part of the reason, I guess, is that organisations like the BNP foster the hatred of neighbours who don’t fit into a particular social model. So whilst I don’t believe that the BNP are an electoral threat, I fear the thuggishness and, in extremis, the terrorism that they encourage.

One useful lesson from the NOTW story is that the more you let the BNP act like the BNP, the more that they reveal their beliefs. When Nazis only hold discreet evening meetings in pub back rooms, you learn less than when they spend a weekend in a field getting pissed.

As much as the other parties get things wrong – and in my own view that’s plenty – you absolutely do not see people burning golliwogs in their name – or encouraging the same. There can be no excuse for this; none – ever. I would just like to say that whether or not this was a set-up, every political party will have racists and vile people that goes for Labour, Tory and Lib Dems in no way does it mean this reflects all members or the party and this is the same with the BNP, until recently I was a Labour man and was put-off the BNP by smears, however I decided to enquire into the BNP and found that not only did I agree with many policies I actually found that the party had many good people in its ranks!

Why is it the mainstream media only attack and smear the BNP inthis way and not the other political partys who have got the country in such a mess? That is the question to ask, and what is the vested interest people like Murdoch have in the chaos created in this country? Don’t believ medai lies?
