To mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on 10 December, Amnesty International and its members around the world will be holding events, launching new books and films and offering expert comment to the media.
You Are Powerful
A new online film from Amnesty, released to mark the anniversary of the UDHR, showing the power of individuals to protect the human rights of people all over the world.
Fire Up
Amnesty supporters will gather near City Hall, London on Saturday 6 December for “Fire Up”, one of dozens of celebratory, visual events around the world to mark the UDHR60. They will assemble in the shape of Amnesty’s iconic ‘Candle and barbed wire’ logo, each holding sparklers to illuminate the candle and form a powerful image in the square.

The Lib Dem leader will be speaking about the state of human rights in the world on the 60th anniversary of the UDHR, at 7pm on Dec 10 at the Human Rights Action Centre, London EC2A 3EA.
We Are All Born Free
A beautiful picture book for children aged 6 and over, bringing the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to life in pictures from some of the world’s most renowned children’s illustrators.
Schools
A UDHR education pack has been received by more than 4,000 schools. They will be celebrating the birthday of ‘Our rights’ in various ways: from showing a DVD to a whole day of human rights teaching and activities, from now until 10 December.
Greetings Card Campaign
Amnesty is asking people to support its annual Greetings Card Campaign and send a message of solidarity to an Amnesty case who is imprisoned or under threat. More details at www.amnesty.org.uk/gcc
