Jennie: I take a hard-line against bigotry and its presence in that article left me riled. Perhaps I should have written it while a tad less agitated, but I don’t think that it was either patronising or condescending. What it was was critical, although I do agree over the main gist of the article, with my objections being mainly aimed at the trappings.

I’ll be watching Batman as soon as I get a free day.

James, if you take a hard line against bigotry you might do well to use less of the language of it when lambasting groups which are still oppressed, no? Or maybe, given your comments here and elsewhere “condescending” is just your default tone and you don’t actually MEAN it, it;s just accidental…

What language might that be, Jennie?

I’m not sure how James has descended from being merely ‘condescending’ to being actively bigoted. I happen to agree that Sophie Platt’s article made unsubstantiated generalisations regarding a particular demographic (a much reviled one, I might add), and therefore an impassioned rebuttal seems justified.

(Not like me, of course, as I NEVER make sweeping statements.)

Yes, Sophie’s article could have been worded better; but so could James’s. That is, in fact, the substance of my point. Both of them have needlessly annoyed people who might otherwise have agreed with them.

Alright Jennie, if I was “using the language of bigotry” could you cite some particular instances? Just a few examples would be endlessly and deeply helpful.

“Does this not make a refreshing change from the mainstream press and its ceaseless distortions” – OMG the Liberal media are always printing LIES about us!! Another favourite BNP line.
