Victory for women
On 20 May 2008, MPs decisively defeated anti-abortion amendments to the government?s Human Fertilisation and Embryology (HFE) Bill to lower the abortion time limit from 24 weeks. MORE

Anti-abortion offensive continues
The well-funded anti-abortion lobby is continuing its ideologically driven campaign against a women?s rights to choose. 13 restrictive amendments have been tabled for the next stage of the HFE Bill ? the Report stage now timetabled for the Autumn. All these amendments need to be vigorously opposed. MORE

Abortion Rights has been working with pro-choice MPs from each of the major parties who have tabled a number of positive amendments to improve access to abortion and bring the law into line with developments in medical practice and social attitudes. MORE
