Brilliant, brilliant news. Kevin Rudd, leader of the Australian Labor Party won the election today. According to the New York Times his first acts as prime minister “will include pushing for the ratification of the Kyoto climate agreement and to negotiate the withdrawal of Australian combat troops from Iraq.” BBC.co.uk has a profile on Rudd.

This made me smile when I saw it today on the news, the fact that the party was booted out and Howard lost his seat was just perfect! Talk about a big electoral ‘F**K YOU!” !! :D

You are kidding, of course. NuLabor and the Liberals have indistinguishable policies. Rudd is a closet Christian funda-mentalist and this is the UK 1997 all over again. Even Rudd’s catchphrases are the same. Anyone for “hit the ground running” again?

Move along, nothing hew to see here

@ Aaron Heath: You forgot Poland :)

Fotsam, maybe, but almost anyone has to be an improvement on Howard.

Sunny, plenty of us said “anyone has to be an improvement on Major” after Blair came to power in 1997 and look how wrong we were with that one :)
