What's actually very worrying about this?

It's not the incompetence of the lackeys responsible for posting these discs, nor the abysmal procedures (or ignorance of same) that have given them the ability and permission to do so.

It's the fact that the Government is driving to gather and centralise more and more personal data all the time - and it's not just the NIR (ID cards database) either, if that's abandoned tomorrow there are still several other projects almost as dangerous to privacy and security underway or in the pipeline. We have to say NO to unfettered data sharing and NO to ever-increasing centralisation, not just NO to ID cards.

…..Seriously though if you Liberal-Lefties organised a kness-up in a Brewery, after most of the buget had been blown on Diversity awareness courseness and obviously the non-security cleared bar staff would make off with the takings and the booze, every soul would go home sober! ~ Geordie-Tory

Oh right. Exactly how many scandals did the previous Tory administration suffer?

It's just that I lost count.

Every government suffers huge embarrassments, especially after a decade of power. And, in my opinion, this and several other ongoing scandals represent a perfect storm of problems for Brown. Maybe it is time for a change of government, but to claim that incompetence is the preserve of the "Liberal-Lefties" is cheap.

Clearly Gordo'-the-Great needs to announce a massive expenditure on training and enforcement of data security standards in the public sector.

Coupled with hiring a small army of "Data Security Stewards" and establishing a regulatory Office of Private Individual Security (data) Transmission {OfLost or PISTOF even!) along with of course more Targets, TARGETS, TARGETS for the non-loss of Data!
